Phenomenology of Soft QCD: The Role of Minimum-Bias Measurements [PDF]

open access: yesMultiple Parton Interactions at the LHC, 2018
This chapter summarizes minimum-bias measurements at the Large Hadron Collider. In particular, the pseudorapidity density, the transverse-momentum spectra, the multiplicity distribution, the correlation of average transverse momentum and the multiplicity,

Tree-level splitting amplitudes for a quark into four collinear partons

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We compute in conventional dimensional regularisation the tree-level splitting amplitudes for a quark parent in the limit where four partons become collinear to each other. This is part of the universal infrared behaviour of the QCD scattering amplitudes

Large Nc physics from the lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
I summarise what lattice methods can contribute to our understanding of the phenomenology of QCD at large Nc and describe some recent work on the physics of SU(Nc) gauge theories. These non-perturbative calculations show that there is indeed a smooth Nc -

Maximum Mass Limit of Generalized MIT Compact Star: A Theoretical Study of Thin Shell Dynamics and Gravitational Lensing

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract In this study, the properties, equilibrium, and stability of compact objects within the framework of teleparallel gravity with the generalized MIT bag model are investigated. By incorporating the modified field equations, the influence of the generalized bag constant on the structure and physical characteristics of quark stars and neutron ...

The Physics of Glueballs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Glueballs are particles whose valence degrees of freedom are gluons and therefore in their description the gauge field plays a dominant role. We review recent results in the physics of glueballs with the aim set on phenomenology and discuss the ...

Visible GeV ALP from TeV Vector‐Like Leptons

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract A model is presented where a GeV axion‐like‐particle (ALP) is predicted in a large portion of the parameter space due to the presence of explicit Peccei–Quinn (PQ) symmetry‐breaking terms in an exotic leptonic sector. The latter provides a solution to the muon g−2$g-2$ anomaly, within the framework of the Linear Seesaw neutrino mechanism.

Intrinsic charm in the nucleon and charm production at large rapidities in collinear, hybrid and k T -factorization approaches

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We discuss the role of intrinsic charm (IC) in the nucleon for forward production of c-quark (or c ¯ $$ \overline{c} $$ -antiquark) in proton-proton collisions for low and high energies.

NNLO QCD corrections to leptonic observables in top-quark pair production and decay

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We calculate a comprehensive set of spin correlations and differential distributions in top-quark pair production and decay to dilepton final states. Our calculation is performed in the Narrow Width Approximation.

Do we understand the unquenched value of fB? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
I review our qualitative understanding of the increase in the value of the B meson decay constant (fB), when dynamical fermions are included in lattice QCD calculations.Comment: 4 pages.

Measuring the Quantum State of Dark Matter

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 536, Issue 1, January 2024.
It is demonstrated how the time series obtained from searches for ultralight bosonic dark matter, such as the axion, can be used to determine whether it is in a coherent or incoherent quantum state. Abstract It is shown how the time series obtained from searches for ultralight bosonic dark matter (DM), such as the axion, can be used to determine ...
