Antibody Binding to a Tethered Vesicle Assembly Using QCM-D

Analytical Chemistry, 2009
The bilayer-tethered vesicle assembly has recently been proposed as a biomimetic model membrane platform for the analysis of integral membrane proteins. Here, we explore the binding of antibodies to membrane components of the vesicle assembly through the use of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D).

Interaction and Structure in Polyelectrolyte/Clay Multilayers: A QCM-D Study

Langmuir, 2013
This study focuses on the investigation of the influence of the ionic strength on the internal structure, film forming behavior, and swelling properties of polyelectrolyte/clay multilayers. Layer-by-layer films were prepared with three different polyelectrolytes [polyethylenimine (PEI), polydiallyldimethylammoniumchloride (pDADMAC), and 2-hydroxy-3 ...

Accurate Fitting Techniques for QCM-D Response Analysis

2024 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)
In this work we propose use of three advanced digital fitting algorithms for the extraction of frequency and time constant of QCM-D response signals. The proposed algorithms provide very low estimation errors so to reach the challenging resolution and accuracy required in QCM applications.

Development of a QCM-D biosensor for Ochratoxin A detection in red wine

Talanta, 2017
Ochratoxin A (OTA), a highly toxic compound, is one of the most widely spread mycotoxins that contaminates a large variety of agricultural commodities. Due to its presence in the food chain, it imposes a hazard on both human and animal health. Therefore, there is a need for precise, fast and simple methods for toxin quantification.

Preconditioning of Model Biocarriers by Soluble Pollutants: A QCM-D Study

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2015
Preconditioning of a biocarrier surface is the first step in triggering biofilm formation in attached-growth bioreactors. However, the quantification and control of this step as influenced by solution conditions and biocarrier properties have been rarely explored.

Viscoelastic Properties of Cationic Starch Adsorbed on Quartz Studied by QCM-D

Langmuir, 2004
The adsorption and viscoelastic properties of layers of a cationic polyelectrolyte (cationic starch, CS, with 2-hydroxy-3-trimethylammoniumchloride as the substituent) adsorbed from aqueous solutions (pH 7.5, added NaCl 0, 1, 100, and 500 mM) on silica were studied with a quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D).

Simple QCM-D measuring circuit for aqueous applications

2017 14th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON), 2017
Quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) measuring system was designed and constructed. It composes of oscillator with tri-state buffer and microcontroller ( dsPIC 33FJ128GP708). Laboratory made 12 MHz QCM with gold electrode was used as a part of oscillator. Dissipation factor of the QCM was determined from time constant of the oscillation

Real-Time QCM-D Monitoring of the Adsorption–Desorption of Expansin on Lignin

Langmuir, 2020
Expansin has nonhydrolytic disruptive activity and synergistically acts with cellulases to enhance the hydrolysis of cellulose. The adsorption-desorption of expansin on noncellulosic lignin can greatly affect the action of expansin on lignocellulose. In this study, three lignins with different sources (kraft lignin (KL), sodium lignin sulfonate (SLS ...

The QCM-D Technique for Probing Biomacromolecular Recognition Reactions

2006
In recent years there has been an exponential growth in scientific reports in which the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique plays a key role in elucidating various aspects of biomacromolecular recognition reactions. In this short overview, the key steps in the development of a special variant of the QCM technique, generally named quartz crystal
