Secondary Analysis of Database-Stored Qualitative Data: QUESSY as Interface Between QDA and RDBMS Systems

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2005
Data bases or relational data base management systems (RDBMS) offer advantages over the common saving as data files for the storage of qualitative data in secondary analysis archives and larger research projects.

Not Properly a Person: The Rational Soul and ‘Thomistic Substance Dualism’ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Like Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas holds that the rational soul is the substantial form of the human body. In so doing, he takes himself to be rejecting a Platonic version of substance dualism; his criticisms, however, apply equally to a traditional ...

On the Foundational Arguments of Sufficient Dimension Reduction

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2026.
Contemporary Sufficient Dimension Reduction, a versatile method for extracting material information from data, can serve as a preprocessor for classical modeling and inference, or as a standalone theory that leads directly to statistical inference. ABSTRACT Sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) refers to supervised methods of dimension reduction that ...

Students' Perception of Generative AI‐Assisted Collaborative Argumentation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Education, Volume 61, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The rapid scaling of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) technology presents opportunities for personalised learning experiences and facilitates collaborative learning, including collaborative argumentation (CA). However, empirical research examining students' perceptions of GenAI‐assisted CA within classroom contexts remains limited ...

Remodeling Grounded Theory

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2004
This paper outlines my concerns with Qualitative Data Analysis’ (QDA)numerous remodelings of Grounded Theory (GT) and the subsequent eroding impact. I cite several examples of the erosion and summarize essential elements of classic GT methodology.

Quality index method (QIM) and quantitative descriptive analysis (QDA) of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) quality indices

open access: yes, 2016
The aim of this study was to develop specific criteria for evaluating freshness in farmed Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), eviscerated and stored on ice, by employing sensorial, physicochemical and bacteriological analyses.

Spatial depth for data in metric spaces

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, Volume 53, Issue 2, Page 684-711, June 2026.
Abstract We propose a novel measure of statistical depth, the metric spatial depth, for data residing in an arbitrary metric space. The measure assigns high (low) values for points located near (far away from) the bulk of the data distribution, allowing quantifying their centrality/outlyingness.

Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis with Word

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2002
Despite some fragmentary references in the literature about qualitative methods, it is fairly unknown that Word can be successfully used for computer-aided Qualitative Data Analyses (QDA).
