Long-distance temporal quantum ghost imaging over optical fibers [PDF]
Since the first quantum ghost imaging (QGI) experiment in 1995, many QGI schemes have been put forward. However, the position-position or momentum-momentum correlation required in these QGI schemes cannot be distributed over optical fibers, which limits their large geographical applications.

Enhancing performance of detection dog field surveys through experimental transects
We evaluated performance parameters for a scat detection dog through assessment transects and compared these results with field survey data from the same dog‐team over a 4‐year period. From this, we derived valuable insights into the suitability of assessment transects for dog evaluation and how they can inform field performance.

Performance Evaluation of GPS Trajectory Rasterization Methods [PDF]
The availability of the Global Positioning System (GPS) trajectory data is increasing along with the availability of different GPS receivers and with the increasing use of various mobility services. GPS trajectory is an important data source which is used in traffic density detection, transport mode detection, mapping data inferences with the use of ...

Mapping interactions between winter recreationists and an endangered ungulate
Southern mountain caribou are a federally designated species at risk, with declines occurring throughout their range. This species overlaps spatially and temporally in their late‐winter habitats with heli‐skiing, an activity that relies on helicopters to transport skiers to remote mountainous locales.

Spatial distribution of introduced brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis (Salmonidae) within alpine lakes: evidences from a fish eradication campaign [PDF]
Brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis have been used worldwide to stock fishless alpine lakes, negatively affecting native biota. Understanding its spatial ecology in invaded ecosystems can provide information to interpret and contrast its ecological impact.

Resolving the environmental factors that determine pond thermal refuge quality
Abstract Cold thermal refuges may mitigate detrimental effects of future climate warming; yet, pond ecosystems have been largely omitted from thermal refuge research despite being globally numerous and providing critical ecosystem services. We create a formal definition for pond thermal refuge quality, then operationalize this definition by measuring ...
