Reversible High‐Degree Atrioventricular Block Associated With Magnesium Toxicity in Severe Pre‐Eclampsia

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 5, September 2026.
Standard‐dose magnesium sulfate may cause life‐threatening hypermagnesemia and reversible hig ‐degree atrioventricular block in pregnant women with acute kidney injury. Prompt recognition, discontinuation of magnesium sulfate, and intravenous calcium gluconate can rapidly restore cardiac conduction and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Prognostic Value of Spatial Trajectory of J‐Point Amplitude Across Left Precordial Leads in a Community‐Based Population

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 5, September 2026.
In NHANES III adults, latent class trajectory analysis identified a J‐point phenotype characterized by higher V4 amplitude and a steep decline toward V6. This spatial trajectory was independently associated with increased long‐term all‐cause mortality and cardiac death, suggesting prognostic value beyond conventional early repolarization criteria ...

Association of Epicardial Adipose Tissue Thickness With Heart Rate Variability and Electrocardiographic Markers of Electrical Heterogeneity in Obesity

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 5, September 2026.
Epicardial adipose tissue thickness was evaluated in adults with obesity and normal‐weight controls using transthoracic echocardiography, 24‐h heart rate variability analysis, and electrocardiographic markers of electrical heterogeneity. Individuals with obesity showed a greater EAT thickness, a higher P‐wave dispersion, a longer Tp‐e interval, a ...

Long‐Term Serial Exercise Stress Testing in Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia on Beta‐Blocker and Flecainide Therapy

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 37, Issue 9, Page 1939-1946, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a potentially life‐threatening arrhythmic disorder typically treated with beta‐blockers and, occasionally, with flecainide. Methods All patients underwent genetic testing, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, and exercise testing.

The V6R/V4R Index: A Novel ECG Parameter for Identifying Idiopathic Ventricular Arrhythmias Originating From the Aortic Cusp

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 37, Issue 9, Page 1988-1996, September 2026.
The V6R/V4R amplitude index is a novel and practical electrocardiographic parameter for identifying idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias originating from the aortic cusp. A cutoff >0.55 accurately distinguishes cusp from adjacent non‐cusp origins within the left ventricular outflow tract, facilitating targeted mapping and procedural planning.

Exploring EEG and ECG in Music Listening: A Scoping Review

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 63, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Music listening, a common daily activity recognized for its emotional impact and ability to evoke memories, engages physiological and psychological processes. Concurrent electroencephalography (EEG) and electrocardiography (ECG) during music listening can inform our understanding of these processes.

Physiological Responses to Auditory, Visual, and Auditory Imagery Triggers in Misophonia

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 63, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Misophonia is characterized by decreased tolerance to specific trigger sounds, yet the underlying physiological mechanisms remain poorly understood. Misophonic responses are also often reported to be elicited not only by the auditory triggers themselves, but also by visual cues associated with those sounds.

Lag‐sensitive cross‐correlation analysis of mother–infant HF‐HRV synchrony during free interaction: An exploratory feasibility study

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 18, September 2026.
Abstract Caregiver–infant interaction involves coordinated behavioral and physiological processes. Heart rate variability (HRV) may provide a physiological index of these interactions. This study preliminarily evaluated an analytical approach for characterizing mother–infant HRV synchrony with temporal lags.
