Photonic Engineering Enables All‐Passive Upconversion Imaging with Low‐Intensity Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A passive upconversion imaging system enables the observation of scenes illuminated by low‐intensity incoherent near‐infrared light from 750 to 930 nm, by converting it into the visible without the use of external power. The upconverter is enabled by triplet–triplet annihilation in a bulk heterojunction, with absorption enhanced by plasmonic resonators

Some aspects of non-linear optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We provide a concise introduction to some methods for solving nonlinear optimization problems. This dissertation includes a literature study of the formal theory necessary for understanding optimization and an investigation of the algorithms available ...

Exact computation of GMM estimators for instrumental variable quantile regression models

open access: yes, 2017
We show that the generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation problem in instrumental variable quantile regression (IVQR) models can be equivalently formulated as a mixed integer quadratic programming problem.

Study on Fuzzy Quadratic Programming Problems

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Computer Science and Engineering, 2019
Under the condition of D-differentiable, fuzzy quadratic programming, whose objective functions are fuzzy quadratic and constraint conditions are fuzzy linear, are studied. First, we prove that fuzzy quadratic programming are a special case of convex fuzzy programming, whose objective mappings and constraint conditions are both D-differentiable; Then ...

Smarter Sensors Through Machine Learning: Historical Insights and Emerging Trends across Sensor Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights how machine learning (ML) algorithms are employed to enhance sensor performance, focusing on gas and physical sensors such as haptic and strain devices. By addressing current bottlenecks and enabling simultaneous improvement of multiple metrics, these approaches pave the way toward next‐generation, real‐world sensor applications.

Discrete time McKean-Vlasov control problem: a dynamic programming approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the stochastic optimal control problem of nonlinear mean-field systems in discrete time. We reformulate the problem into a deterministic control problem with marginal distribution as controlled state variable, and prove that dynamic ...

Generating quadratic bilevel programming test problems

open access: yesACM Transactions on Mathematical Software, 1994
This paper describes a technique for generating sparse or dense quadratic bilevel programming problems with a selectable number of known global and local solutions. The technique described here does not require the solution of any subproblems. In addition, since most techniques for solving these problems begin by solving the corresponding relaxed ...
