Variance of the Number of Zeroes of Shift-Invariant Gaussian Analytic Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Following Wiener, we consider the zeroes of Gaussian analytic functions in a strip in the complex plane, with translation-invariant distribution. We show that the variance of the number of zeroes in a long horizontal rectangle $[0,T]\times [a,b]$ is ...

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Multiple trait model combining random regressions for daily feed intake with single measured performance traits of growing pigs

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2002
A random regression model for daily feed intake and a conventional multiple trait animal model for the four traits average daily gain on test (ADG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), carcass lean content and meat quality index were combined to analyse data ...

Adaptive, cautious, predictive control with Gaussian process priors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Nonparametric Gaussian Process models, a Bayesian statistics approach, are used to implement a nonlinear adaptive control law. Predictions, including propagation of the state uncertainty are made over a k-step horizon.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

On the Statistical Properties of Multiscale Permutation Entropy: Characterization of the Estimator’s Variance

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Permutation Entropy (PE) and Multiscale Permutation Entropy (MPE) have been extensively used in the analysis of time series searching for regularities.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Application of random regression models for genetic analysis of 305-d milk yield over different lactations of Iranian Holsteins [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2017
Objective During the last decade, genetic evaluation of dairy cows using longitudinal data (test day milk yield or 305- day milk yield) using random regression method has been officially adopted in several countries.
