Continuous variable quantum key distribution with two-mode squeezed states

open access: yes, 2012
Quantum key distribution (QKD) enables two remote parties to grow a shared key which they can use for unconditionally secure communication [1]. The applicable distance of a QKD protocol depends on the loss and the excess noise of the connecting quantum ...

Warm Rydberg atom-based quadrature amplitude-modulated receiver

open access: yesOptics Express
Rydberg atoms exhibit both remarkable sensitivity to electromagnetic fields making them promising candidates for revolutionizing field sensors and, unlike conventional antennas, they neither disturb the measured field nor necessitate extensive calibration procedures.

Distinguishing Between the Short‐Term Climate Responses to Different Stratospheric Aerosol Injection Latitudes With Explainable Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract Stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), whereby reflective particles are released into the stratosphere to induce cooling, is one possible tool to counteract global warming and its associated risks. However, there is much uncertainty surrounding how SAI would be deployed, as well as the potential of novel and unknown risks and impacts.

LDPC-Coded Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing for Intensity-Modulated Direct-Detection Optical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
In this paper, a low-density parity check (LDPC) coded GFDM with high-level modulation scheme is proposed for more flexible and advanced multicarrier modulation in intensity-modulated/direct-detection (IM/DD) optical systems.

Quantum Noise Locking

open access: yes, 2005
Quantum optical states which have no coherent amplitude, such as squeezed vacuum states, can not rely on standard readout techniques to generate error signals for control of the quadrature phase. Here we investigate the use of asymmetry in the quadrature

Turbulence‐Resilient Coherent Receiver Array on CMOS‐Compatible Silicon Photonics for Free Space Optical Communications

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
A CMOS‐compatible silicon‐photonic 4 × 4 coherent receiver array spatially samples turbulence‐distorted wavefronts and, with maximum‐ratio combining, enables signal recovery. Experimental BPSK tests under moderate turbulence approach theoretical combining efficiency, reducing BER from 1E‐2 to 1E‐15.

Modeling and Optimization of Frequency‐Doubled Radio‐Over‐Fiber Link Based on Deep Learning Technique

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
This article proposes a deep learning (DL) approach for modeling and optimizing frequency‐doubled radio‐over‐fiber links. By collectively replacing traditional components with DL model, accurate system evaluation is achieved. Moreover, through an end‐to‐end architecture, performance optimization is accomplished.

Specific Emitter Identification Using Convolutional Neural Network-Based IQ Imbalance Estimators

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Specific Emitter Identification is the association of a received signal to a unique emitter, and is made possible by the naturally occurring and unintentional characteristics an emitter imparts onto each transmission, known as its radio frequency ...

Flexible digital modulation and coding synthesis for satellite communications [PDF]

open access: yes
An architecture and a hardware prototype of a flexible trellis modem/codec (FTMC) transmitter are presented. The theory of operation is built upon a pragmatic approach to trellis-coded modulation that emphasizes power and spectral efficiency.
