Hitless Rate Switching for Dynamically Reconfigurable Optical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We propose a set of techniques to enable hitless rate switching for reconfigurable optical systems and validate, by computer simulations, their applicability to NRZ, RZ, and Nyquist pulse shapes. The polarization-multiplexed quadrature phase-shift keying

Feedback reliability calculation for an iterative block decision feedback equalier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A new class of iterative block decision feedback equalizer (IB-DFE) was pioneered by Chan and Benvenuto. Unlike the conventional DFE, the IB-DFE is optimized according to the reliability of the feedback (FB) symbols.

KNN BASED CLASSIFICATION OF DIGITAL MODULATED SIGNALS

open access: yesInternational Islamic University Malaysia Engineering Journal, 2016
Demodulation process without the knowledge of modulation scheme requires Automatic Modulation Classification (AMC). When receiver has limited information about received signal then AMC become essential process. AMC finds important place in the field many

Influence of amplitude and phase imbalance of quadratures on the noise immunity of coherent reception of signals with quadrature amplitude modulation

open access: yesРоссийский технологический журнал, 2021
Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is used for high-speed information transmission in many radio systems and, in particular, in DVB-S and DVB-S2/S2X digital satellite television systems.

Circular $\theta$ -QAM: A Circle-Shaped QAM for Higher-Order Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes M-ary circular θ-quadrature amplitude modulation (CTQAM) for M = 2l, l ≥ 4, which is constructed by rearrangement of the signal points based on θ-QAM.

Short-range ultrasonic communications in air using quadrature modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A study has been undertaken of ultrasonic communications methods in air, using a quadrature modulation method. Simulations were first performed to establish the likely performance of quadrature phase shift keying over the limited bandwidth available in ...

All-Optical Format Conversion for Rectangular 8QAM Signals Based on Phase-Sensitive Amplification and Nonlinear Mach-Zehnder Interferometer

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
An all-optical format conversion (AOFC) scheme for the input 30 Gbit/s rectangular 8-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (8QAM) signal is proposed and numerically investigated based on phase-sensitive amplification (PSA) and nonlinear Mach-Zehnder ...

Quadrature amplitude modulation in modulating retroreflector system

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2003
It has been shown that the data throughput of an optical modulating retroreflector (MRR) system can be enhanced by use of spectrally efficient M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-ary QAM). It has been demonstrated that this MRR system has sufficient dynamic range to support up to 64-QAM at 30 Mbit/s in a 6.75 MHz channel bandwidth.

Upper-Bound Performance of a Wide-Band Adaptive Modem

open access: yes, 1999
Adaptive modulation is applied in conjunction with a decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) in order to mitigate the effects of the slowly varying wide-band multipath Rayleigh fading channel in a noise-limited environment.

Construction of Circular Quadrature Amplitude Modulations (CQAM) [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE International Conference on the Science of Electrical Engineering in Israel (ICSEE), 2018
Circular quadrature amplitude modulations (CQAM) are introduced as an alternative to mono-dimensional ASK constellations (and their QAM Cartesian product) for probabilistic shaping with non-binary error-correcting codes. We propose an exact construction method via recursive equations for bi-dimensional CQAM constellations.
