CONSTRAINED QUADRILATERAL MESHES OF BOUNDED SIZE

International Journal of Computational Geometry & Applications, 2005
We introduce a new algorithm to convert triangular meshes of polygonal regions, with or without holes, into strictly convex quadrilateral meshes of small bounded size. Our algorithm includes all vertices of the triangular mesh in the quadrilateral mesh, but may add extra vertices (called Steiner points). We show that if the input triangular mesh has t

v2 Subdivision for quadrilateral meshes

The Visual Computer, 2004
This paper presents a $\sqrt2$ subdivision scheme for quadrilateral meshes that can be regarded as an extension of a 4-8 subdivision with new subdivision rules and improved capability and performance. The proposed scheme adopts a so-called $\sqrt2$ split operator to refine a control mesh such that the face number of the refined mesh generally equals ...

Two‐dimensional adaptive quadrilateral mesh generation

Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1994
AbstractIn the paper we address the problem of 2D adaptive quadrilateral mesh generation by using the variational principles. We first find the variational integral which generates the known grid system of curve‐by‐curve error equidistributions. We then use the same intergral to generate a new adaptive grid system which is superior to the known system ...

Parallel Unstructured Quadrilateral Mesh Generation

2005
In this paper we present our efforts to parallelize an unstructured quadrilateral mesh generator. Its serial version is based on the divider-and-conquer idea, and mainly includes two stages, i.e. geometry decomposition and mesh generation. Both stages are parallelized separately.

Mesh enrichment against mesh regeneration using quadrilateral elements

Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1993
AbstractAn adaptive refinement procedure using a new automatic quadrilateral element mesh generator is presented. The performance of the adaptive procedure in achieving a given accuracy with different mesh refinement strategies is compared. It is found that when using bilinear or biquadratic quadrilateral elements refinement strategies of both mesh ...

Discrete differential geometry: The nonplanar quadrilateral mesh

Physical Review E, 2012
We consider the problem of constructing a discrete differential geometry defined on nonplanar quadrilateral meshes. Physical models on discrete nonflat spaces are of inherent interest, as well as being used in applications such as computation for electromagnetism, fluid mechanics, and image analysis.
