Understanding and Tuning Mobile Interfaces in Ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 Thin Films in Relation to Microstructure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectricity in thin HfO2‐based films offers great possibilities for next‐generation neuromorphic memory devices. There, the response to subcoercive voltage signals is driven by the movement of mobile interfaces and their interaction with crystal defects – a yet rather unexplored aspect, which we shed light on and gain new insights into the complex

Geometric Thinking of Future Mathematics Teachers in Mozambique: a case study from Rovuma University

open access: yesTangram, 2020
We developed the research with 53 students, future math teachers, from the 1st year of the Degree in Mathematics Teaching at Rovuma University. The aim was to identify the level of development of geometric thinking of future mathematics teachers. To this

The parameter space of cubic laminations with a fixed critical leaf

open access: yes, 2016
Thurston parameterized quadratic invariant laminations with a non-invariant lamination, the quotient of which yields a combinatorial model for the Mandelbrot set. As a step toward generalizing this construction to cubic polynomials, we consider slices of

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Prospective primary school mathematics teachers’ professional knowledge of the ‘House of Quadrilaterals’

open access: yesLUMAT
Mathematics teachers ought to possess solid knowledge of different school mathematics topics. Though classification of quadrilaterals (‘House of Quadrilaterals’) is an important and integral part of geometry curricula worldwide, research reports on ...

SYNTHESIS OF CERTAIN MECHANISMS WHICH GENERATE LUNULES OVER POLYGONS WITH 5 SIDES [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2016
A synthesis for a mechanism relying on a sequence of articulated quadrilaterals which plot lunules along a penthagon is made. The plotting is successful. The speeds of plotting points are neither equal, nor constant.

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

A novel lithium copper iron phosphate with idealized formula Li5Cu22+Fe3+(PO4)4: crystal structure and distribution of defects

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
Gray–green single crystals were obtained under high-pressure, high-temperature hydrothermal conditions. A refinement of atom occupancies gave the composition Li3.68Cu2+Fe3+(Cu0.55Li0.45)2Fe2+0.15(PO4)4.

Ambitoric geometry II: Extremal toric surfaces and Einstein 4-orbifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We provide an explicit resolution of the existence problem for extremal Kaehler metrics on toric 4-orbifolds M with second Betti number b2(M)=2. More precisely we show that M admits such a metric if and only if its rational Delzant polytope (which is a ...

Constructing Ionic Fast Diffusion Channels on LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐modification strategy is developed for LNMO cathode, where bulk Ti doping stabilizes the oxygen framework and simultaneously drives the in situ formation of LaTi2O6 nano‐islands as ion diffusion channels on (111) surfaces, enabling high‐rate capacity (∼100 mAh g−1 at 30 C) and excellent cycling retention (87.8% after 1000 cycles).
