Analytic formula for quadrupole-quadrupole matrix elements
Physical Review C, 1990An analytic formula is reported for general matrix elements of the microscopic quadrupole-quadrupole operator in the U(3)-boson approximation. The complete infinite-dimensional basis of A-fermion wave functions is compatible with the harmonic-oscillator shell model and consists of np-nh configurations, with spurious center-of-mass excitations removed ...

Molecular quadrupole moment and effective-quadrupole-centre of fluorobenzene
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 2, 1983Measurements of the infinite-dilution molar field-gradient birefringence constant, Kerr constant and Cotton-Mouton constant of fluorobenzene as a solute in carbon tetrachloride at 25°C and at two visible-spectrum wavelengths (441.6 and 632.8 nm) are reported. Analysis of the observations, in conjunction with other known electric and magnetic properties

Quadrupole-Quadrupole Interatomic Forces
Physical Review, 1938Atoms the normal states of which are not $S$ states experience quadrupole-quadrupole repulsive and attractive forces which vary as the inverse fifth power of the separation distance. At large distances, exchange being negligible, the expression for the interaction energy contains as factors two atomic coefficients and a root of a secular equation ...

The dynamic quadrupole and dipole–quadrupole polarizabilities of helium
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1988The dynamic quadrupole and dipole−quadrupole polarizabilities of heliu are calculated, using variation−perturbation theory and electron− correlated wavefunctions.(AIP)

Nuclear quadrupole resonance of bismuth and the quadrupole Hamiltonian
Physics Letters A, 1981Abstract Results are given of new measurements of nqr lines of 209Bi and it is found that these results are adequately described by a quadrupole hamiltonian.

Quadrupole Interactions and Quadrupole Moments
1971Perturbed angular correlations are a widely used technique for the investigation of magnetic hyperfine interactions. It has been applied in the past to many cases, and magnetic dipole moments of excited states have been determined as well as magnetic hyperfine fields.

Quadrupole Collectivity with Isospin
Physical Review Letters, 1994We study intrinsic aspects of quadrupole collectivity with conserved isospin in the framework of the interacting boson model (IBM-3) of nuclei. A geometric visualization is achieved by means of a novel type of intrinsic states which are deformed in angular momentum yet have well defined isospin.

Quadrupole moments and quadrupole polarizabilities of conjugated systems
Molecular Physics, 1968A variational method in the usual approximations of π-electron theory for calculating components of molecular quadrupole moments and quadrupole polarizabilities is considered. Values of these quantities in the case of some alternant and non-alternant hydrocarbon and dye molecules are presented.

Quadrupole Mass Filters and Quadrupole Ion Traps
1997Characteristics of quadrupole mass filters and quadrupole ion traps are summarized in comparison with other mass analyzers. The theoretical basis for mass analysis using quadrupole fields is described in conjunction with the various scan methods and operating parameters.
