Transition quadrupole moments in superdeformed bands

open access: yesPhysics of Atomic Nuclei, 2000
We propose a method to select core and cluster in a binary component description of atomic nuclei. The choice is based on the mismatch between measured binding energies and the underlying trend supplied by the liquid drop model. A key point is that the charge to mass ratios of parent, core, and cluster should be as nearly equal as possible.

Electric quadrupole transition probabilities for atomic lithium

open access: yesAtomic Data and Nuclear Data Tables, 2014
Electric quadrupole transition probabilities for atomic lithium have been calculated using the weakest bound electron potential model theory (WBEPMT). We have employed numerical non-relativistic Hartree–Fock wavefunctions for expectation values of radii and the necessary energy values have been taken from the compilation at NIST.

Lamb Dip of a Quadrupole Transition in H2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The saturated absorption spectrum of the hyperfineless S(0) quadrupole line in the (2-0) band of H2 is measured at λ=1189 nm, using the NICE-OHMS technique under cryogenic conditions (72 K).

Electronic spectroscopy of cold ions in a radio-frequency trap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The low density of ions in mass spectrometers generally precludes direct absorption measurements. The spectrum of ions can nonetheless be obtained by using resonance two-color photofragmentation or multiphoton photofragmentation techniques.

The $^{1}\mathrm{S}_0$-$^{3}\mathrm{P}_2$ magnetic quadrupole transition in neutral strontium

open access: yes, 2023
We present a detailed investigation of the ultranarrow magnetic-quadrupole $^{1}\mathrm{S}_0$-$^{3}\mathrm{P}_2$ transition in neutral strontium and show how it can be made accessible for quantum simulation and quantum computation.

Sensitivity-enhanced nuclear quadrupole correlation spectroscopy: Application of single transition operators in nuclear quadrupole resonance of half-integer nucleus

open access: yes, 2020
[[abstract]]Single transition operators are adapted to simplify the density matrix theory for the spin dynamics calculation of quadrupole nuclei with more than one spin transition in zero field. We employ the formalism on the spin I=5/2 system with axial

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Electric quadrupole contributions to the optical activity of crystalline transition metal complexes

open access: yes, 1971
It is shown that the circular dichroism data from crystalline transition metal complexes of D 3 symmetry provides evidence for electric dipole-electric quadrupole contributions to the optical activity, as distinct from the usual electric dipole-magnetic ...

Jet noise from instability mode interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A nonlinear interaction model is used to study sources of sound in jets. The model uses quadratic interactions of instability modes, which are obtained by solving the linear parabolized stability equations.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
