Investigation on the Cs 6S1/2 to 7D electric quadrupole transition via monochromatic two-photon process at 767 nm

Frontiers of Physics, 2020
We experimentally demonstrate the cesium electric quadrupole transition from the 6S1/2 ground state to the 7D3/2,5/2 excited state through a virtual level by using a single laser at 767 nm.

Compact ultrastable laser system for spectroscopy of 2S1/2 → 2D3/2 quadrupole transition in 171Yb+ ion

Quantum electronics (Woodbury, N.Y.), 2020
We report the results of studying a compact laser system designed for manipulating a quantum state of the optical qubit based on the 2S1/2 → 2D3/2 quadrupole transition in the 171Yb+ ion at a wavelength of 435.5 nm.

Transitional quadrupole moments in83Y

Zeitschrift fr Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei, 1994
Doppler shift attenuation lifetime measurements have been carried out for the 3qp and isomeric rotational bands in Y-83 using the reaction (Ni(Si,3p))-Ni-58-Si-28. While the transitional quadrupole moments in the 3qp bands are slightly lower than in the 1 qp bands, we found evidence for a strong reduction in \Q(t)\ for the isomeric band.

Quadrupole transitions revealed by Borrmann spectroscopy

Nature, 2008
The Borrmann effect-a dramatic increase in transparency to X-ray beams-is observed when X-rays satisfying Bragg's law diffract through a perfect crystal. The minimization of absorption seen in the Borrmann effect has been explained by noting that the electric field of the X-ray beam approaches zero amplitude at the crystal planes, thus avoiding the ...

Electric quadrupole transitions

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1991
A data set has been compiled consisting of 101 E2 strengths observed in neutron radiative capture. The E2 strength function is found to be consistent with a fifth power energy dependence and mass dependence characterized by a power of n = 1.87 ± 0.07.

Quenching of spin-flip quadrupole transitions

Physical Review C, 1985
An increasing amount of experimental data indicates that spin-flip quadrupole transitions exhibit quenching effects similar to those reported earlier in (p,n) reactions involving l = 0 and l = 1 transitions. We present here two model calculations suggesting that the E2 spin-flip transitions are more affected than their M1 and M3 counterparts by the ...

Quadrupole Phase Transitions in Magnetic Solids

Physical Review Letters, 1971
We have studied the phase transitions of magnetic systems with large biquadratic interactions in the molecular-field approximation. Quadrupole and dipole phase transitions occur at different temperatures whenever the biquadratic interactions are greater than the bilinear terms for effective spin interactions with $\mathcal{S}g~\frac{3}{2}$.

Electric quadrupole transitions in 42Ca

Nuclear Physics A, 1969
Abstract From Doppler shift attenuation and delayed coincidence measurements, lifetimes have been determined for states in 42 Ca as follows: The measured electric quadrupole transitions were compared with the predictions of the shell model, the weak-coupling model and the Gerace-Green calculations.

Hysteresis-like phase transitions in quadrupole traps

Modern Physics Letters A, 2022
In this paper, we consider the Coulomb crystals in linear ion trap with a nonlinear dissipative force induced by optical radiation. We discuss a relation between 2D and 3D ion crystals formation and the crystalline units’ initial conditions. A phase diagram of the Coulomb crystal configurations is constructed.

Conversion coefficients for electric quadrupole transitions

Nuclear Physics, 1958
The measured K and L shell conversion coefficients of the 412 kev transition in Hg/sup 198/ / and the 279 kev transition in Tl/sup 203/ are compared with the results of calculations by Rose and by Sliv and Enrd which are corrected for effects due to the finite nuclear size.
