Quadrupole Phase Transitions in Magnetic Solids
Physical Review Letters, 1971We have studied the phase transitions of magnetic systems with large biquadratic interactions in the molecular-field approximation. Quadrupole and dipole phase transitions occur at different temperatures whenever the biquadratic interactions are greater than the bilinear terms for effective spin interactions with $\mathcal{S}g~\frac{3}{2}$.

Hysteresis-like phase transitions in quadrupole traps
Modern Physics Letters A, 2022In this paper, we consider the Coulomb crystals in linear ion trap with a nonlinear dissipative force induced by optical radiation. We discuss a relation between 2D and 3D ion crystals formation and the crystalline units’ initial conditions. A phase diagram of the Coulomb crystal configurations is constructed.

Double transitions in deuterium quadrupole resonance
Journal of Magnetic Resonance (1969), 1978Abstract The new double nuclear resonance techniques enable the detection of the nuclear quadrupole resonance of the deuteron with very high sensitivity in powdered solids. One consequence is that it is possible to detect double transition quadrupole resonance (DTQR) in which two adjacent deuterons make simultaneous transitions absorbing a single ...

Collision-induced dipole transitions and collisional broadening of quadrupole transitions
Physical Review A, 1981Collision-induced dipole transitions and collisional broadening in the wing of $\mathrm{Cs}(5D)$ due to mixing with $\mathrm{Cs}(7S)$ and $\mathrm{Cs}(6P)$ are studied using two-photon resonance ionization spectroscopy. From the structure of the line shape, we measured the van der Waals well of the ground state without performing a temperature study or

A new electric quadrupole transition in O16
Physics Letters, 1962Strong enhancement of single-nucleon matrix elements for E2 transitions in nuclei neighboring O/sup 16/ result from the virtual excitation of a collective 2/sup +/ state in the O/sup 16/ core (S. Fallieros and R. A. Ferrell, Phys. Rev., 116: 660 (1959)).

Magnetic quadrupole transitions in optical radiation
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1965Abstract The rates of two mechanisms for intercombination transitions in light atoms are compared for visible and near-ultraviolet light, following a suggestion of Mizushima. Even for small Z, spin-orbit electric dipole radiation dominates over magnetic quadropole radiation in determining the radiative lifetime, although in a sense these processes ...

Quadrupole transitions at very small momentum transfer in nuclei
Physical Review C, 1988The giant quadrupole resonance and the low-lying quadrupole transition have been investigated in /sup 58/Ni, /sup 92/Mo, /sup 120,124/Sn, /sup 140/Ce, and /sup 208/Pb by inelastic scattering of 108.5 MeV /sup 3/He particles at very small angles. Anomalous rise of the giant quadrupole resonance cross section is observed to 0/sup 0/.

Electric quadrupole transitions in neutral Li
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1975Abstract Eigenfunctions of an effective potential for the valence electron in neutral Li are used to compute electric quadrupole oscillator strengths and transition probabilities for a large number of bound-bound transitions and a few bound-free transitions.

Metamagnetic transition based on the quadrupole moment in PrCu2
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1996Abstract The metamagnetic transition of PrCu 2 brings about the crystal distortion based on the magnetoelastic effect. We have studied in detail this transition through the magnetostriction, magnetoresistance and magnetization measurements.

Master equation for electric quadrupole transitions
Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1989A master equation is developed, analogous to the Lehmberg-Agarwal equation, for the study of electric quadrupole transitions in atomic systems. This equation allows one to study the evolution in time of a system of atoms interacting with and via the radiation field in terms of the average values of atomic operators only.
