Electric quadrupole transitions in the beryllium isoelectronic sequence

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1983
Electric quadrupole transition probabilities for transitions between the 2s2, 2s2p, and 2p2 states in the beryllium isoelectronic sequence are evaluated using configuration interaction wavefunctions for 6≤Z≤26. It is found that the contribution from the electric quadrupole transitions is negligible and will not be an important process in any laboratory

Electric quadrupole transitions in LiI, BeII, BIII

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1975
Abstract Theoretical values of the weighted oscillator strengths for different electric quadrupole transitions of LiI, BeII and BIII have been calculated using analytic Hartree-Fock wave functions. An appropriate hypervirial check has been made to assess the accuracy of the values. Some interesting features of the hypervirial operator are discussed.

Isospin character of the giant quadrupole transition in 124Sn

1991
Use has been made of the interference between the nuclear and Coulomb amplitudes in the scattering of 84 MeV/nucleon 17O ions by 124Sn to study the isospin character of the giant quadrupole transition. The data are well described by assuming the transition is ''isoscalar,'' i.e., Mn/Mp=N/Z.
