Test of the proximity theorem for deformed nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We compare a proximity-type potential for two interacting nuclei with the double-folding method. Both spherical and deformed systems are considered. Special "orientation windows" are found for two deformed nuclei giving rise to nuclear cohesion.

Nuclear multifragmentation and fission: similarity and differences

open access: yes, 2006
Thermal multifragmentation of hot nuclei is interpreted as the nuclear liquid--fog phase transition deep inside the spinodal region. The experimental data for p(8.1GeV) + Au collisions are analyzed. It is concluded that the decay process of hot nuclei is

Controlling Bubble and Skyrmion Lattice Order and Dynamics via Stripe Domain Engineering in Ferrimagnetic Fe/Gd Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
The density and ordering of the bubble/skyrmion lattice hosted by Fe/Gd multilayers can be significantly enhanced using an in‐plane field to align the stripe domain state. As a result, the laser‐induced breathing mode dynamics are strongly modified, showing both an increased amplitude and frequency.

Avoiding the rating bounce : why rating agencies are slow to react to new information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Rating agencies state that they take a rating action only when it is unlikely to be reversed shortly afterwards. Based on a formal representation of the rating process, I show that such a policy provides a good explanation for the empirical evidence ...

Modeling Acoustic Attenuation, Sound Velocity and Wave Propagation in Lithium‐Ion Batteries via a Transfer Matrix

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
“A simple 1D transfer matrix model of a battery is introduced and parametrized using harvested individual cell components at 0 % and 100 % SoC. This model allows for the calculation of group velocity and attenuation. The results of the model show good agreement with measured values, highlighting increased attenuation and group velocity at the ...

Trust first, concerns second: An international vignette study of older adults' preferences towards deprescribing statins

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigated the attitudes and beliefs of older adults towards deprescribing statins in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, using an online, vignette‐based study. Presented with a hypothetical scenario in which a general practitioner advised stopping simvastatin, participants rated their level of agreement and ...

Long‐term trends in parasite diversity and infection levels: approaches and patterns

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Parasites exist in every ecosystem, affecting nearly all organisms and playing a complex role in human societies. On the one hand, they contribute substantially to biodiversity and support ecosystem stability by performing essential ecological functions.

The flexible, the stereotyped and the in‐between: putting together the combinatory tool use origins hypothesis

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tool use research has long made the distinction between tool using that is considered learned and flexible, and that which appears to be instinctive and stereotyped. However, animals with an inherited tool use specialisation can exhibit flexibility, while tool use that is spontaneously innovated can be limited in its expression and facilitated
