Divergence of risk indicators and the conditions for market discipline in banking [PDF]

open access: yes
Accurate measurement of bank risk is a matter of considerable importance for bank regulation and supervision. Current practices in most countries emphasize reliance on financial statement data for assessing banks’ risk.

Patient benefit from seamless implant monitoring

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2005
Background: Patients with electrostimulation devices visit the hospital regularly for follow-up. The workload of out-patient departments is ever increasing, but a less frequent check-up is unwanted, as it could impair reliability and effectiveness of the

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Development of pH Indicator Composite Films Based on Anthocyanins and Neutral Red for Monitoring Minced Meat and Fish in Modified Gas Atmosphere (MAP)

open access: yes
Fresh meat and fish are widely consumed foods with short and very short shelf lives, respectively. Efficient supply chains and the judicious use of food packaging are the most effective means of extending shelf life and thus reducing food waste and ...

Implementation of a Dynamic LoRa Network for Real-Time Monitoring of Water Quality

open access: yesDesigns
Water quality is a key factor in environmental and agronomic sustainability. Due to the influence of human activity and industrial development, the composition of rivers or lakes can experience significant variations both immediately and over time.

Monitoring air quality indicators and energy consumption in Dalarnas Villa during operation of a demand-controlled exhaust ventilation system

open access: yes, 2020
A real-world study was undertaken of the indoor air quality in a recently-built single family home in central Sweden, to establish whether demand controlled ventilation provided superior interior conditions, when compared with other air supply strategies, including the standard used by the Swedish buildings regulator.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Modeling and Monitoring Subsurface Water Quality Indicators of Sistan Plain using Geographic Information Systems

open access: yesمحیط زیست و مهندسی آب, 2019
Investigating the spatial variation of groundwater quality parameters is important in identifying the quality of the aquifer and contaminating resources, and determining the most appropriate management solutions. Geostatistical and GIS methods can be useful tools in this regard.
