Analysis of antibiotic use in vap (ventilator-association pneumonia) patients [PDF]
VAP is a nosocomial infection that most often occurs in the ICU. VAP increases morbidity, mortality, treatment costs andhospitalization time in the ICU. Antibiotic is primary therapy in VAP.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Small area variations and welfare loss in the use of antibiotics in the community [PDF]
This paper seeks to explain local variations in the use of antibiotics in the community and to assess the welfare loss due to heterogeneous attitudes towards the risk of bacterial infections and resistance. Significant differences are observed in the per

Minimum Antibiotic Levels for Selecting a Resistance Plasmid in a Gnotobiotic Animal Model [PDF]
The minimum antibiotic concentrations for selecting an R plasmid in vivo were determined in germfree rates colonized by two isogenic strains of Escherichia coli, one of which carried an R plasmid.

The two catalytic subunits of typhoid toxin dissociate from the holotoxin in the ER of an intoxicated cell, but only CdtB exits the ER to generate immunosuppressive effects. PltA is retained in the ER and sequestered from its cytosolic target, thus allowing the anti‐inflammatory effects of CdtB to promote intestinal colonization.

AN EQUILIBRIUM ANALYSIS OF ANTIBIOTICS USE AND REPLANTING DECISIONS IN APPLE PRODUCTION [PDF]
Antibiotics are used in fruit production to control fire blight, a bacterial disease of fruit trees that causes yield losses and eventually tree death.

The C‐terminal domain of yeast Arginyltransferase1 is essential for its catalytic activity
Arginyltransferase 1 (Ate1), a eukaryotic enzyme, catalyses arginylation, transferring arginine from tRNA‐Arg to the amino terminus of the target protein. Overexpression of Ate1 in yeast is lethal and is dependent on arginylation. This study elucidates how mutations in the cofactor‐binding and active site of Ate1 and truncation of its structural ...

Background: Some studies have reported that antibiotic use as therapy and prophylaxis in hospitals is inappropriate in approximately 9% to 64% of cases. The Gyssens algorithm is used for qualitative evaluation by assessing the appropriate antibiotic use.
