Toward zero-emission ferries: integrating systematic review and bibliometric analysis insights on alternative fuels and policies

open access: yesJournal of Shipping and Trade
The shipping industry aims to achieve full decarbonization at the European Union (EU) level by mid-century. Over the past decade, various alternative fuels have been explored to address this goal.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The analysis of quantitative traits in wheat mapping populations

open access: yes, 2001
This paper discusses the analysis of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) using molecular markers from a doubled haploid wheat mapping population arising from the Cranbrook Halberd cross. Two field trials are used to provide phenotypic information on the trait

Accelerating ferry fleet renewal through green financing – the case of the Greek ferry network

open access: yesJournal of Shipping and Trade
Regulatory bodies have set ambitious goals regarding the decarbonization of maritime transport. The shipping industry, however, continues to face the dual challenge of sustaining profitability while renewing its fleet with new “greener” vessels.

Behavior of higher-order MDD on energy ratios at the interface of thermoelastic and piezothermoelastic mediums

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
This paper investigates the intricate energy distribution patterns emerging at an orthotropic piezothermoelastic half-space interface by considering the influence of a higher-order three-phase lags heat conduction law, accompanied by memory-dependent ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Solution of the Fractional Black-Scholes Option Pricing Model by Finite Difference Method

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
This work deals with the put option pricing problems based on the time-fractional Black-Scholes equation, where the fractional derivative is a so-called modified Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative.
