Rockery morphology based on quantitative analysis of shading

open access: yesHeritage Science
The rockeries of classical Chinese gardens are masterpieces of classical Chinese garden art and form a key element of garden heritage. Consequently, a quantitative study of “rockery shadows” is of considerable importance to the study of “rockery forms ...

A quantitative comparison of the morphological diversity within beetles and true bugs: why immatures matter

open access: yesAnimal Biodiversity and Conservation
Measuring biodiversity is more important than ever due to the ongoing global mass extinction event, often done by counting species. A species number cannot fully reflect the structure of diversity within an ecosystem. In Coleoptera, the group of beetles,

De la localisation à l’évaluation : des verbes préfixés évaluatifs au sens bien particulier

open access: yesCorela, 2012
In French, evaluative morphology can result from two different derivational processes, prefixation and suffixation; prefixes such as suffixes forming important paradigms.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Morphoagronomic genetic diversity in american wild rice species

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2008
To characterize the genetic variability among species and populations of South American wild rice, eleven populations of Oryza glumaepatula, seven of O. grandiglumis, four of O. latifolia and one of O. alta, from Brazil and Argentina, were evaluated.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Understanding the spatial morphology of China’s national development zones from elements and structural perspectives

open access: yesDiscover Sustainability
The establishment of National Economic and Technological Development Zones (ETDZs) is a key strategy in China’s reform and opening-up. Understanding their spatial characteristics is critical for optimizing land structure and promoting sustainable urban ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Morphological development of Aspergillus niger in submerged citric acid fermentation as a function of the spore inoculum level. Application of neural network and cluster analysis for characterization of mycelial morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Although the citric acid fermentation by Aspergillus niger is one of the most important industrial microbial processes and various aspects of the fermentation appear in a very large number of publications since the 1950s, the effect of the spore inoculum
