Toward a Genetic Signature of Resistance to Activity‐Based Anorexia in Striatal Projecting Cortical Neurons

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Converging evidence from neuroimaging studies and genome‐wide association study (GWAS) suggests the involvement of prefrontal cortex (PFC) and striatum dysfunction in the pathophysiology of anorexia nervosa (AN). However, identifying the causal role of circuit‐specific genes in the development of the AN‐like phenotype remains ...

Trends in marine species distribution models: a review of methodological advances and future challenges

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Correlative species distribution models (SDMs) are quantitative tools in biogeography and macroecology. Building upon the ecological niche concept, they correlate environmental covariates to species presence to model habitat suitability and predict species distributions.

A systematic review evaluating the performance of eDNA methods relative to conventional methods for biodiversity monitoring

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
The rapid adoption of environmental DNA (eDNA) methods has drastically changed biodiversity monitoring efforts. It is often claimed that eDNA methods are more sensitive and efficient than conventional biodiversity monitoring methods, but it is often unclear what metrics support this claim.

Integrated trajectories of systolic and diastolic function differentially associate with risk for heart failure with preserved and reduced ejection fraction and proteomic profiles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Graphical overview of derivation and testing of multiparametric trajectories of cardiac function. This study identified six trajectories of LV systolic and diastolic function from mid‐ to late‐life. Predicted trajectory from single echocardiogram identified four trajectories at differential risk for HFpEF and HFrEF.

Severity of effect considerations regarding the use of mutation as a toxicological endpoint for risk assessment: A report from the 8th International Workshop on Genotoxicity Testing (IWGT)

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, EarlyView.
Abstract Exposure levels without appreciable human health risk may be determined by dividing a point of departure on a dose–response curve (e.g., benchmark dose) by a composite adjustment factor (AF). An “effect severity” AF (ESAF) is employed in some regulatory contexts.
