Realization of quantum cascade laser operating at room temperature

open access: yes, 2003
X-ray diffraction, as an effective probe and simple method, is used to ascertain the precise control of the epilayer thickness and composition. Intersubband absorption from the whole structure of the QC laser is used to monitor the wavelength of the QC ...

Multiscale Perspectives on Perovskite Instability: From Atomistic Deformation to Device Degradation in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale perspectives on how excess charges in soft lead halide perovskites induce operational instability in photovoltaic devices are presented. Localized carriers formed under thermodynamic non‐equilibrium states modify atomistic interactions and drive lattice distortions, accelerating device degradation.

Correlation between the subband electronic temperatures and the internal quantum efficiency of THz quantum cascade lasers

open access: yes, 2008
We have measured the electronic temperature of the upper laser level (TE u) during continuous-wave operation in THz quantum-cascade lasers and found an experimental correlation with the occurrence of stimulated emission and the internal quantum ...

A Cholesterol Analogue for Cell‐Surface Enzyme Display

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a non‐genetic strategy for bacterial cell surface enzyme immobilisation using cholesterol‐based artificial lipids containing Ni2+‐NTA binding groups that can integrate into biological membranes. The engineered cells can capture His‐tagged enzymes directly from cell lysates while preserving intracellular and surface activity, allowing for ...

7.3μm slot quantum cascade laser

open access: yes, 2022
The market for the mid-infrared lasers is growing day by day due to the two significant atomic windows are exactly lying in the mid-infrared range. Various laser sources are developed and researched in order to achieve tunable lasing at the mid-infrared.

Iterative Synthesis of Pyrene–Coronene Molecular Graphene Nanoribbons

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An iterative approach delivers a new family of undoped, cove‐edged graphene nanoribbons with lengths up to 9.1 nm that exhibit both molar absorptivity and fluorescence brightness values on the order of 105 M−1 cm−1 and an intrinsic charge‐carrier mobility of 475 ± 32 cm2 V−1 s−1.

Microring quantum cascade surface emitting lasers

open access: yesAPL Photonics
We miniaturize a vertically coupled in-plane whispering gallery mode cavity incorporating a quantum cascade gain medium, aiming to realize the mid-infrared counterpart to the vertical cavity surface emitting laser.

Verification and Mitigation of Proton‐Induced Non‐Ionizing Damage in Perovskite Solar Cells for Space Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐halide perovskite solar cells offer high‐efficiency power for orbital missions but suffer from permanent proton‐induced degradation. This work identifies non‐ionizing energy loss (NIEL) as the primary driver of irreversible failure, inducing atomic displacements and microcracks in the high‐fluence regime. Through energy‐tuned mapping and scalable
