Engineering Multi-Section Quantum Cascade Lasers for Broadband Tuning

open access: yesPhotonics, 2016
In an effort to overcome current limitations to electrical tuning of quantum cascade lasers, a strategy is proposed which combines heterogeneous quantum cascade laser gain engineering with sampled grating architectures.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

From Photoalignment to Structured Light: Liquid Crystal Platforms for Beam Shaping and Complex Wavefronts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photoaligned and photopatterned liquid crystal platforms provide programmable control of optical phase, polarization, and spin‐orbit interactions, enabling compact generation of structured light and complex wavefronts. This review highlights how tailored molecular orientations transform simple beams into designed optical fields, opening versatile ...

Imaging the Thickness‐Dependent Formation of Schottky Barriers in Metal–Semiconductor van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Using nanobeam photoemission, we demonstrate imaging of the in‐plane and out‐of‐plane electric field landscape within a metal–semiconductor van der Waals heterostructure. We provide evidence for Schottky barrier formation that depends on the semiconductor thickness. ABSTRACT Achieving high‐performance optoelectronic devices based on two‐dimensional van

Low-threshold terahertz molecular laser optically pumped by a quantum cascade laser

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2016
We demonstrate a low-threshold, compact, room temperature, and continuous-wave terahertz molecular laser optically pumped by a mid-infrared quantum cascade laser. These characteristics are obtained, thanks to large dipole transitions of the active medium:

Monolithic, Optically Coupled, Multi-Section Mid-IR Quantum Cascade Lasers

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
Mid-infrared (mid-IR λ ≈ 3–12 μm), single-mode-emission Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs) are of significant interest for a wide range of applications, especially as the laser sources are chosen for laser absorption spectroscopy. In this work, we present the

Rational Design of Organic Chromophores for Simultaneously Trig‐gering Redox Imbalance and Tracking Organelles in Biological Sys‐tems Under Near‐Infrared Light Irradiation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
TOC represents the synthesis of theory‐guided novel near‐infrared (NIR) light‐absorbing organic photosensitizers (OPS) enabling redox‐induced tumor phototherapy and single‐cell organelle tracking. ABSTRACT The design of organic photosensitizers that operate efficiently in the near‐infrared (NIR) region remains challenging due to the need to balance ...
