Quantum Chaos and Coherence: Random Parametric Quantum Channels
The survival probability of an initial Coherent Gibbs State (CGS) is a natural extension of the Spectral Form Factor (SFF) to open quantum systems. To quantify the interplay between quantum chaos and decoherence away from the semi-classical limit, we ...

Chaos and magic in the dissipative quantum kicked top [PDF]
We consider an infinite-range interacting quantum spin-1/2 model, undergoing periodic kicking and dissipatively coupled with an environment. In the thermodynamic limit, it is described by classical mean-field equations that can show regular and chaotic ...

Abstract We report the observation of a downward terrestrial gamma‐ray flash (TGF) during the dart‐leader stage in a negative cloud‐to‐ground lightning flash. The observation was recorded by the Telescope Array Surface Detector, in conjunction with a Lightning Mapping Array, an interferometer (INTF), a fast antenna, and a high‐speed camera.

Nature of Quantum Chaos in Spin Systems
A novel concept for quantum chaos in spin systems is proposed which differs distinctively from concepts currently in use. It is argued (a) that the definition of quantum chaos cannot be based on the correspondence principle and (b) that quantum chaos is ...

Fluctuating Interfaces in Barotropic Beta‐Plane Turbulence
Abstract Zonal jets manifest themselves as bands with sharp interfaces in the vorticity configuration. We develop an algorithm to track these fluctuating vorticity interfaces and systematically investigate their characteristic spatio‐temporal behaviors.

Steady-state quantum chaos in open quantum systems
We introduce the notion of steady-state quantum chaos as a general phenomenon in open quantum many-body systems. Classifying an isolated or open quantum system as integrable or chaotic relies in general on the properties of the equations governing its ...

Diagnosing Chaos with Projected Ensembles of Process Tensors
The process tensor provides a general representation of a quantum system evolving under repeated interventions and is fundamental for numerical simulations of local many-body dynamics.

Complexity Theory, Quantum Mechanics and Radically Free Self Determination
It has been claimed that quantum mechanics, unlike classical mechanics, allows for free will. In this paper I articulate that claim and explain how a complex physical system possessing fractal-like self similarity could exhibit both self consciousness ...
