Quantum heat engine with long-range advantages
Long-range interacting quantum devices provides a promising route for quantum technology applications. Here, the presence of long-range interactions is shown to enhance the performances of a quantum heat engine featuring a many-body working substance. We

Additively manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2 with contrasting BCC/B2‐dominant and lamellar FCC + BCC/B2 microstructures exhibits the same pressure‐induced BCC/B2 → HCP transformation. Under laser heating at high pressure, HCP is destabilized, and a cubic BCC/B2 + FCC assemblage is recovered, while the lower‐scan‐speed microstructure transforms at a lower ...

For heat engines working between two heat baths, functionality is often conditioned on a set of fixed constraints such as given internal structure of the engine and given temperatures for the baths. It is, however, important to devise heat engines which can function adaptively, in particular when the engine is a quantum system and the baths are subject

Proposal for an autonomous quantum heat engine
We propose and theoretically analyse a superconducting electric circuit which can be used to experimentally realize an autonomous quantum heat engine. Using a quasiclassical, non-Markovian theoretical model, we demonstrate that coherent microwave power ...

Single-atom heat engine as a sensitive thermal probe
We propose employing a quantum heat engine as a sensitive probe for thermal baths. In particular, we study a single-atom Otto engine operating in an open thermodynamic cycle.

DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Optimized Efficiency at Two Optimum Operations of a Stochastically Driven Quantum Dot Heat Engine
We take a stochastically driven single-level quantum dot embedded between two metallic leads at different temperatures works as a heat engine. We numerically study the optimized efficiency at two optimum operations, which lies between the maximum and ...

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Quantum Finite-Time Thermodynamics: Insight from a Single Qubit Engine
Incorporating time into thermodynamics allows for addressing the tradeoff between efficiency and power. A qubit engine serves as a toy model in order to study this tradeoff from first principles, based on the quantum theory of open systems.
