The thermoelectric voltage developed across an atomic metal junction (i.e., a nanostructure in which one or a few atoms connect two metal electrodes) in response to a temperature difference between the electrodes, results from the quantum interference of

Quantum Interference of a Damped Particle [PDF]
Summary: We study the influence of damping on quantum interference of a particle in free space and in an harmonic potential. Using the influence-functional method, it is shown that the suppression of quantum interference is described by the ratio of the thermal diffusion induced by the environment to the quantum-mechanical diffusion.

Two-photon quantum interference and entanglement at 2.1 μm [PDF]
Our results show a viable route to free-space quantum-secured communication in an unexplored atmospheric transparency window. Quantum-enhanced optical systems operating within the 2- to 2.5-μm spectral region have the potential to revolutionize emerging ...

The Oxford Questions on the foundations of quantum physics [PDF]
The twentieth century saw two fundamental revolutions in physics—relativity and quantum. Daily use of these theories can numb the sense of wonder at their immense empirical success.

Holographic imaging of electromagnetic fields via electron-light quantum interference [PDF]
The quantum interference between ultrafast light and electron pulses enables the holographic reconstruction of nanoscale fields. Holography relies on the interference between a known reference and a signal of interest to reconstruct both the amplitude ...

Anti-Hong–Ou–Mandel interference by coherent perfect absorption of entangled photons
Two-photon interference, known as the Hong–Ou–Mandel effect, has colossal implications for quantum technology. It was observed in 1987 with two photodetectors monitoring outputs of the beamsplitter illuminated by photon pairs: the coincidence rate of the

Adaptive Dynamics Simulation of Interference Phenomenon for Physical and Biological Systems
Biological systems have been shown to have quantum-like behaviors by applying the adaptive dynamics view on their interaction networks. In particular, in the process of lactose–glucose metabolism, cells generate probabilistic interference patterns ...
