Vectorial Diffractive Neural Metasurfaces for Multiplexed Synthesis of Optical Skyrmions

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
A three‐layer Jones‐matrix‐based vectorial diffractive neural network enables compact, passive, and multiplexed synthesis of optical skyrmions and bimerons. By mapping distinct Gaussian‐beam input channels to coaxial orbital‐angular‐momentum and polarization states, the device generates up to 16 topological vector textures with high mode purity, robust

Radio‐Frequency Front‐End‐Free Hybrid Code‐Division and Space‐Division Wireless Multiplexing Using Space‐Time‐Coding Metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
This work constructs a radio‐frequency front‐end‐free hybrid code‐division and space‐division‐multiplexing wireless communication system built on programmable space‐time‐coding metasurfaces. Orthogonal pseudo‐random codes reliably separate overlapped multistream signals that share identical frequency, time, and spatial resources.

Polarization‐Controlled Wavelength‐Tunable Pulsed Laser Based on Metafiber

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
A polarization‐sensitive Au‐nanorod metasurface has been proposed that integrates saturable absorption with wavelength‐tuning capabilities. By fabricating this metasurface structure on the facet of the fiber, known as a metafiber, low‐loss coupling between the metasurface and the fiber laser system is achieved.

Rolling‐Enabled Nonplanar Heterogeneous Integration for Polarization‐Diverse Nanolasers on Silicon Photonics

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
Rolling‐enabled transfer printing introduces mechanical orientation as a new degree of freedom for heterogeneous silicon photonics. A conventional TE‐like photonic‐crystal nanobeam laser is mechanically rotated by 90° to selectively couple with the TM‐like mode of a silicon waveguide, enabling polarization‐diverse functionality without redesigning the ...

Probing Molecular Chirality via Linear Dichroism of Molecule‐Loaded Anisotropic Plasmonic Slots

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
We propose an optical detection strategy for chiral molecules, termed Chiroptical sensing via Linear dichroism of Anisotropic Plasmonic Slots (CLAPS). Chiral molecules are embedded within anisotropic plasmonic slot arrays, and their handedness is determined from the plasmon‐enhanced differential reflectance measured under two linearly polarized probe ...

Low‐Complexity Phase–Transition‐Based VO2 Transmissive Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface for Indoor Millimeter‐Wave Communications

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
We demonstrate a VO2‐based transmissive reconfigurable intelligent surface for indoor millimeter‐wave communication. The TRIS replaces conventional PIN and varactor diodes with geometrically tailored VO2 switches, enabling transmitted phase control through phase‐transition‐based switching.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Self‐Oscillation in Photochromic Thiazolothiazole‐Embedded Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
Experimental observation of redox‐driven self‐oscillations at the soft‐matter/ambient interface of a photochromic thiazolothiazole‐embedded polymer by spectroscopic ellipsometry. The self‐oscillations are facilitated by a reversible electron transfer cycle involving the thiazolothiazole unit, a cross‐linked polymer matrix, and ambient molecular oxygen.
