A quantum walk with a delocalized initial state: contribution from a coin-flip operator

open access: yes, 2013
A unit evolution step of discrete-time quantum walks is determined by both a coin-flip operator and a position-shift operator. The behavior of quantum walkers after many steps delicately depends on the coin-flip operator and an initial condition of the ...

Parts of quantum states [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2005
It is shown that generic N-party pure quantum states (with equidimensional subsystems) are uniquely determined by their reduced states of just over half the parties; in other words, all the information in almost all N-party pure states is in the set of reduced states of just over half the parties.

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Variational-state quantum metrology

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
Abstract Quantum technologies exploit entanglement to enhance various tasks beyond their classical limits including computation, communication and measurements. Quantum metrology aims to increase the precision of a measured quantity that is estimated in the presence of statistical errors using entangled quantum states. We present a novel

Ferrocene Derivatives Enable Ultrasensitive Perovskite Photodetectors with Enhanced Reverse Bias Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Aligning the Quantum Perspective of Learning to Instructional Design: Exploring the Seven Definitive Questions

open access: yesInternational Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning, 2011
This paper builds upon a foundational paper (under review) which explores the rudiments of the quantum perspective of learning. The quantum perspective of learning uses the principles of exchange theory or borrowed theory from the field of quantum holism

Precise Measurement of Hyperfine Structure of Cesium 7S1/2 Excited State

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
We present a precise measurement of the hyperfine structure of cesium 7 S 1 / 2 excited state by employing electromagnetically induced spectroscopy (EIS) with a cesium three-level cascade ( 6 S 1 / 2 − 6 P 3 / 2 − 7 S

Quantum collapses and revivals of a matter wave in the dynamics of symmetry breaking

open access: yes, 2012
Using the remarkable mathematical construct of Eugene Wigner to visualize quantum trajectories in phase space, quantum processes can be described in terms of a quasi-probability distribution analogous to the phase space probability distribution of the ...

Adaptive quantum state estimation for dynamic quantum states [PDF]

open access: yes2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2017
We propose an adaptive quantum state estimation method for nonstationary quantum states and verify the method by numerical simulations and experimental investigations. Adaptive quantum state estimation provides an asymptotically optimal scheme for estimating an unknown input quantum state by updating the measurement configuration upon the detection of ...

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.
