Bioelectrical Interfaces Beyond Excitable Cells: Cancer, Aging, and Gene Expression Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The investigation of biological conductivity has evolved from its classical foundation based on ionic fluxes underpinning cardiac and neuronal excitability to a multifaceted regulator of cellular physiology. Traditional approaches for probing electrical events in living matter focused largely on action potentials recording.

A Reusable Polymeric Sensor Based on Green‐Synthesized CQDs@ZIF‐8 for the Rapid Detection of Nitro‐Explosive Picric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents the rational design and synthesis of a highly luminescent polymeric nanocomposite. Initially, highly fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method using citric acid and β‐alanine as precursors, followed by rigorous purification through centrifugation and filtration.

Rotational Quantum Superposition Tests

open access: yes, 2023

Quantum information transfer between topological and spin qubit systems

open access: yes, 2011
We propose a method to coherently transfer quantum information, and to create entanglement, between topological qubits and conventional spin qubits. Our suggestion uses gated control to transfer an electron (spin qubit) between a quantum dot and edge ...

Mechanical Stress Evolution in Polycrystalline Ge Thin Films Under MeV Ion Irradiation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Irradiation of polycrystalline Ge thin films with 1.8 MeV Au ions alters residual stress through defect generation and lattice expansion. Increasing fluence drives progressive lattice disorder and eventual amorphization. Polycrystalline Ge resists amorphization longer than crystalline Ge, as grain boundaries facilitate defect diffusion, significantly ...

Massive quantum superpositions using magnetomechanics

open access: yesPhysical Review Applied
Macroscopic quantum superpositions of massive objects are very interesting as they have several potential applications, ranging from the exploration of the interaction of gravity with quantum mechanics to quantum sensing. In this article, we propose two related schemes to prepare a spatial superposition of massive quantum oscillator systems with a high

Witnessing mass-energy equivalence with trapped atom interferometers [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
We propose an experimental setup to probe the interplay between the quantum superposition principle and gravitational time dilation arising from the mass-energy equivalence.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Coherent superposition states as quantum rulers [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2002
We explore the sensitivity of an interferometer based on a quantum circuit for coherent states. We show that its sensitivity is at the Heisenberg limit. Moreover we show that this arrangement can measure very small length intervals.

In Situ Characterisation of Hydrogels via Dynamic Interface Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels have become pivotal materials for tissue engineering, robotics, biomedical devices, and sensing applications due to their diverse material compositions and tunable mechanical properties. While significant effort has focused on developing novel manufacturing approaches such as extrusion bioprinting and light‐based fabrication methods,
