Does Quantum Mechanics Breed Larger, More Intricate Quantum Theories? The Case for Experience-Centric Quantum Theory and the Interactome of Quantum Theories

open access: yes
We pose and address the radical question of whether quantum mechanics, known for its firm internal structure and enormous empirical success, carries in itself the genomes of larger quantum theories that have higher internal intricacy and phenomenological

Holographic thermodynamics of a five-dimensional neutral Gauss–Bonnet AdS black hole

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Motivated by the recent progress on the holographic dual of the extended thermodynamics for black holes in anti-de Sitter (AdS) space, we investigate the holographic thermodynamics for the five-dimensional neutral Gauss–Bonnet AdS black hole in the ...

Giant Magnetic Coercivity Driven by Spin‐Bag Ferromagnetism in Epitaxial Sr3YCo4O10+δ Films with Engineered 2D Oxygen Vacancy Ordering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A giant magnetic coercivity and a vertical shift of hysteresis loops are demonstrated in Sr3YCo4O10+δ epitaxial films. The hard magnetic behavior originates from ferromagnetic spin bags stabilized within a long‐range ordered oxygen‐vacancy structure.

Quantum Probability and Decision Theory, Revisited

open access: yes, 2002
An extended analysis is given of the program, originally suggested by Deutsch, of solving the probability problem in the Everett interpretation by means of decision theory.

3D‐Printed Piezoionic/Bioelectronic Hydrogel for Electro‐Metabolic Regulation of Osteogenic Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed piezoionic GPMx hydrogel enables stable electromechanical signal generation under mechanical loading, exhibiting long‐term durability and low fatigue. As a bioactive patch, it restores endogenous bioelectricity to stimulate osteogenesis via Ca2+ influx and mitochondrial activation, while simultaneously enabling label‐free alkaline ...

A gravitational theory of quantum mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes
An explanation for quantum mechanics is given in terms of a classical theory (general relativity) for the first time. Specifically, it is shown that certain structures in classical general relativity can give rise to the non-classical logic normally ...

Clocks, correlations and interactions in timeless quantum theory

open access: yes
The notion of time as an external parameter regulating the dynamics of physical systems is unsatisfactory from an explanatory point of view. It also clashes with the background-independent character of general relativity.

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...

Scientific Explanation in Quantum Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In this paper (which is, at best, a work in progress), I discuss different modes of scientific explanation identified by philosophers (Hempel, Salmon, Kitcher, Friedman, Hughes) and examine how well or badly they capture the "explanations" of phenomena ...
