Simulation of Nonradiative Energy Transfer in Photosynthetic Systems Using a Quantum Computer

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
Photosynthesis is an important and complex physical process in nature, whose comprehensive understanding would have many relevant industrial applications, for instance, in the field of energy production.

Transport and Dissipation in Quantum Pumps

open access: yes, 2003
This paper is about adiabatic transport in quantum pumps. The notion of ``energy shift'', a self-adjoint operator dual to the Wigner time delay, plays a role in our approach: It determines the current, the dissipation, the noise and the entropy currents ...

Two-time quantum transport and quantum diffusion [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
Based on the nonequilibrium Green's function technique, a unified theory is developed that covers quantum transport and quantum diffusion in bulk semiconductors on the same footing. This approach, which is applicable to transport via extended and localized states, extends previous semi-phenomenological studies and puts them on a firm microscopic basis.

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Adiabatic information transport in the presence of decoherence

open access: yes, 2007
We study adiabatic population transfer between discrete positions. Being closely related to STIRAP in optical systems, this transport is coherent and robust against variations of experimental parameters.

On the coherence/incoherence of electron transport in semiconductor heterostructure optoelectronic devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper compares and contrasts different theoretical approaches based on incoherent electron scattering transport with experimental measurements of optoelectronic devices formed from semiconductor heterostructures.

Deterministic Detection of Single Ion Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam implantation with high detection efficiencies will enable the rapid and scalable fabrication of advanced spin‐based technologies such as qubits. This work presents the detection efficiencies of a wide range of ions implanted into solid‐state hosts, with efficiencies of >90% recorded for ion species and substrate combinations of ...

Quantum transport in randomized quantum graphs

open access: yesAPL Quantum
This work deals with quantum transport in open quantum graphs. We consider the case of complete graphs on n vertices with an edge removed and attached to two leads to represent the entrance and exit channels, from where we calculate the transmission ...

Transport Efficiency of Continuous-Time Quantum Walks on Graphs

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
Continuous-time quantum walk describes the propagation of a quantum particle (or an excitation) evolving continuously in time on a graph. As such, it provides a natural framework for modeling transport processes, e.g., in light-harvesting systems.
