Ballistic transport in nanodevices based on single-crystalline Cu thin films
In ballistic transport, the movement of charged carriers remains unimpeded by scattering events. In this limit, microscopic parameters such as crystal momentum, spin and quantum phase are well conserved, allowing electrons to maintain their quantum ...

DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Quantum Transport in Open Nanostructures [PDF]
Electron transport was studied in an open square quantum dot with a dimension typical for current experiments. A numerical analysis of the probability density distribution inside the dot was performed which enabled us to unambiguously map the resonant states which dominate the conductance of the structure.

Fast escape of a quantum walker from an integrated photonic maze
Studying quantum transport in biological systems is difficult so developing an artificial platform that can be used to understand quantum transport is desirable. Here, Caruso, et al. demonstrate how a quantum walker can quickly reach the output of a maze

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

Simulating photosynthetic energy transport on a photonic network
Quantum effects in photosynthetic energy transport in nature, especially for the typical Fenna-Matthews-Olson (FMO) complexes, are extensively studied in quantum biology.

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Enhanced thermoelectric properties in boron nitride quantum-dot
We have investigated the ballistic thermoelectric properties in boron nitride quantum dots by using the nonequilibrium Green’s function approach and the Landauer transport theory.
