Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Commensurate-incommensurate transitions of quantum Hall stripe states in double-quantum-well systems
In higher Landau levels (N>0) and around filling factors nu =4N+1, a two-dimensional electron gas in a double-quantum-well system supports a stripe groundstate in which the electron density in each well is spatially modulated.

Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Propagation of edge magnetoplasmons in semiconductor quantum-well structures
The wavelength and the propagation length of the edge magnetoplasmons, running along the edge of a two-dimensional electron layer in a semiconductor quantum-well structure are theoretically studied as a function of frequency, magnetic field, electron ...

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Quantum probes for quantum wells
We seek for the optimal strategy to infer the width $a$ of an infinite potential wells by performing measurements on the particle(s) contained in the well. In particular, we address quantum estimation theory as the proper framework to formulate the problem and find the optimal quantum measurement, as well as to evaluate the ultimate bounds to precision.

Self-Channelling of Electric Current in a Quantum Well
We have directly demonstrated that homogeneous photoexcitation of a quantum well in presence of uniform tilted magnetic field gives rise to a set of bypass in-plane electric currents of a different value which may flow even in the opposite directions ...

A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...
