STAR highlights on heavy ion physics
RHIC-STAR is a mid-rapidity collider experiment for studying high energy nuclear collisions. The main physics goals of STAR experiment are 1) studying the properties of the strongly coupled Quark Gluon Plasma 2) explore the QCD phase diagram structure ...

Anisotropic quark stars with an interacting quark equation of state [PDF]
A deep exploration of the parameter space that relates the interacting equation of state with the bag constant B, and the interaction parameter a, is fundamental for the construction of diverse models of quark stars. In particular, the anisotropy of quark stars with a well-motivated quantum chromodynamics (QCD) equation of state is presented here.

Abstract Background Galectin‐3 (Gal‐3) is a circulating biomarker of fibrosis, with higher levels being associated with an increased risk of progression of heart failure and kidney disease. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at increased risk of both.

Quark stars: features and findings [PDF]
Under extreme conditions of temperature and/or density, quarks and gluons are expected to undergo a deconfinement phase transition. While this is an ephemeral phenomenon at the ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collider (BNL-RHIC), quark matter may exist naturally in the dense interior of neutron stars.

Predators and scavengers: Polar bears as marine carrion providers
Scavenging is a foraging strategy widely used across the animal kingdom and apex predators provide a large amount of energy in a food web by provisioning carrion. In the harsh environmental conditions of the Arctic, apex predators such as polar bears Ursus maritimus can provide scavenging opportunities for many species. Carrion can act as a buffer when

Abstract Freshwater Peridinium willei (Peridiniaceae) is globally distributed, but reports linking its morphologies with DNA sequence data remain scarce. The taxonomy of the species, and its infraspecific taxa, remain ambiguous due to the lack of DNA sequence data for the original and type material.

Radioactivity of quark nuggets
Quark nuggets Q Z A $$ {}_{\textrm{Z}}{}^{\textrm{A}}\textrm{Q} $$ , as Fermionic non-topological solitons, could have their mass per baryon smaller than ordinary nuclei and behave as exotic nuclei with different relations of atomic number and atomic ...

Strange Quark Stars — A Review [PDF]
A pedagogical overview of strange quark matter and strange stars is presented. After a historical notation of the research and an introduction to quark matter, a major part is devoted to the physics and astrophysics of strange stars, with attention being paid to the possible ways by which neutron stars and strange stars can be distinguished in ...

Nutritional approach in a growing Jack Russell terrier with gall bladder agenesis
Abstract An asymptomatic male Jack Russell terrier diagnosed at the age of 18 weeks with congenital gall bladder agenesis, confirmed by computed tomography scan, after finding abnormally high values for liver enzymes in a routine blood count. Treatment with liver‐protective agents S‐adenosylmethionine and ursodeoxycholic acid was initiated. At 6 months
