Electrochemical Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique in Sonoelectrochemistry

ECS Transactions, 2009
The influence of the experimental conditions on the operation of a quartz crystal microbalance in an ultrasonic field was studied in water and different Cu electrolytes. An increase of the ultrasonic intensity and a decreasing distance between the ultrasonic horn tip and the surface of the quartz resonator caused an increase in signal noise and a ...

Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique for Analysis of Cooling Crystallization

Analytical Chemistry, 2013
A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique is developed for the in situ analysis of the cooling crystallization processes of crystal nucleation and growth. In contrast to conventional techniques based on property changes in the solid or solution phase, the proposed QCM technique simultaneously exploits property changes in both the solid and solution

Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique for in Situ Analysis of Supersaturation in Cooling Crystallization

Analytical Chemistry, 2016
A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) is used as a novel in situ strategy for analyzing the supersaturation profile during cooling crystallization. The main concept is based on preventing any solid mass loading on the QCM sensor by modifying the sensor surface.

Quantification of Cellulase Activity Using the Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique

Analytical Chemistry, 2009
The development of more efficient utilization of biomass has received increased attention in recent years. Cellulases play an important role in processing biomass through advanced biotechnological approaches. Both the development and the application of cellulases require an understanding of the activities of these enzymes. A new method to determine the

Sensing Picornaviruses Using Molecular Imprinting Techniques on a Quartz Crystal Microbalance

Analytical Chemistry, 2009
Molecular imprinting techniques were adapted to design a sensor for the human rhinovirus (HRV) and the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), which are two representatives of picornaviruses. Stamp imprinting procedures lead to patterned polyurethane layers that depict the geometrical features of the template virus, as confirmed by AFM for HRV.

The Quartz Crystal Microbalance as a Nanotribology Technique

2007
The quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique is a powerful probe of interfacial phenomena that has been successfully employed to investigate the sliding friction of objects of nanoscopic size subject to lateral speeds as large as a few m/s. After a description of the quartz acoustics, the chapter presents the more common circuits used to drive the ...

Protein Adsorption on Hydroxyapatite Nano-Crystals with Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
Real time adsorption behaviors of six proteins with different isoelectric points on hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanocrystal surfaces have been investigated by using HAp sensors for quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation technique (QCM-D). The dissipation (D)–frequency (f) plots clearly showed that the different types of protein adsorption behaviors; the

A quartz crystal microbalance technique to study wax crystallization in the presence of gas

Measurement Science and Technology, 2008
A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) was designed to measure the melting temperature in the presence of gas under high pressure. The capacity of the experimental technique to determine the liquid–solid as well as the solid–solid transitions was first tested by measuring the phase transition temperatures of several pure n-alkanes from n-C19 to n-C30 ...

Diffusivity measurements in polymers: III. Quartz crystal microbalance techniques

SPIE Proceedings, 1997
A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) system has been designed and constructed in order to measure the diffusion rates of several different casting solvents in a photoresist film. The QCM employs an oscillating quartz crystal that is coated with a photoresist film.

Improved quartz crystal microbalance technique

Journal of Applied Physics, 1984
The importance of using the most pertinent mathematical description of the mass load versus frequency relation for quartz crystal thin-film thickness monitors is reviewed. The different usable crystal load ranges of the so-called frequency- and period-measurement techniques in comparison with the Z-Match technique are calculated for most of the ...
