Extensions of the quartz-crystal-microbalance technique

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1996
SUMMARY The sensing properties of the quartz resonators in contact with a solid, liquid or gas medium are explained within the energy transfer model. The use of the quartz microbalance is extended up to the Curie point (573°C) by employing a dual resonator.

Lectin typing of Campylobacter jejuni using a novel quartz crystal microbalance technique

Analytica Chimica Acta, 2011
Seven Campylobacter jejuni strains were characterised by a lectin typing assay. The typing system was based on a quartz crystal microbalance technique (QCM) with four commercially available lectins (wheat germ agglutinin, Maackia amurensis lectin, Lens culinaris agglutinin, and Concanavalin A), which were chosen for their differing carbohydrate ...

Electrochemical Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique in Sonoelectrochemistry

ECS Transactions, 2009
The influence of the experimental conditions on the operation of a quartz crystal microbalance in an ultrasonic field was studied in water and different Cu electrolytes. An increase of the ultrasonic intensity and a decreasing distance between the ultrasonic horn tip and the surface of the quartz resonator caused an increase in signal noise and a ...

Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique for Analysis of Cooling Crystallization

Analytical Chemistry, 2013
A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique is developed for the in situ analysis of the cooling crystallization processes of crystal nucleation and growth. In contrast to conventional techniques based on property changes in the solid or solution phase, the proposed QCM technique simultaneously exploits property changes in both the solid and solution

Quantification of Cellulase Activity Using the Quartz Crystal Microbalance Technique

Analytical Chemistry, 2009
The development of more efficient utilization of biomass has received increased attention in recent years. Cellulases play an important role in processing biomass through advanced biotechnological approaches. Both the development and the application of cellulases require an understanding of the activities of these enzymes. A new method to determine the

Sensing Picornaviruses Using Molecular Imprinting Techniques on a Quartz Crystal Microbalance

Analytical Chemistry, 2009
Molecular imprinting techniques were adapted to design a sensor for the human rhinovirus (HRV) and the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), which are two representatives of picornaviruses. Stamp imprinting procedures lead to patterned polyurethane layers that depict the geometrical features of the template virus, as confirmed by AFM for HRV.
