Monolithic Double Resonator for Quartz Enhanced Photoacoustic Spectroscopy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
A new approach for Quartz Enhanced Photoacoustic Spectroscopy is presented, based on an acoustic excitation from the outside of the prongs of a quartz tuning fork, to increase the sensitivity of the sensor.

Chiral Acoustic Phonon and Conservation of Pseudoangular Momentum in α‐Quartz

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral acoustic phonons in α‐quartz are probed via Brillouin light scattering, exploiting the photon's helicity and the crystal's handedness. The interaction obeys a selection rule arising from pseudoangular momentum conservation, enabling direct optical access to phonon chirality in nonsymmorphic crystals.

Effect of sliding friction in harmonic oscillators

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Sliding friction is ubiquitous in nature as are harmonic oscillators. However, when treating harmonic oscillators the effect of sliding friction is often neglected.

Integrated carbon nanotube fibre–quartz tuning fork biosensor; pp. 48–51 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2012
We report on a novel label-free biosensor for in situ measurements in liquid. It is comprised of a porous carbon nanotube (CNT) fibre attached to one prong of a quartz tuning fork (QTF) resonator.

Combined scanning force microscopy and scanning tunneling spectroscopy of an electronic nano-circuit at very low temperature

open access: yes, 2007
We demonstrate the combination of scanning force microscopy and scanning tunneling spectroscopy in a local probe microscope operating at very low temperature (60 mK). This local probe uses a quartz tuning fork ensuring high tunnel junction stability.

Research Progress of Quartz Tuning Fork Micromachined Gyroscope [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Intelligent Systems Research, 2015
This paper presents a review of the working principle, the development and the research progress of the quartz tuning fork micromachined gyroscopes. Then, the fabrication process, the performance parameters and the application fields of the QRS are illustrated.

On‐Surface Synthesis of Bismuth Monolayers through Ice‐Confined Redox Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report an ice‐confined growth strategy for the synthesis of atomically thin 2D bismuth and related 2D metals. This approach involves rapid freezing of a BiCl3 aqueous solution on an aluminum foil using liquid nitrogen, which triggers interfacial redox reactions between the ice and the aluminum surface.

Hydrogel tip attached quartz tuning fork for shear force microscopy

open access: yesMicro and Nano Systems Letters, 2018
This paper reports the first demonstration of hydrogel conical tip attachment onto quartz tuning fork (QTF) by using an elastomeric tip mold that is soft-lithographically replicated from an electrochemically etched tungsten wire.

Imaging capability of pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistors, AlGaN/GaN, and Si micro-Hall probes for scanning Hall probe microscopy between 25 and 125°C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The authors present a comparative study on imaging capabilities of three different micro-Hall probe sensors fabricated from narrow and wide band gap semiconductors for scanning hall probe microscopy at variable temperatures.
