Advancing mine pillar design: Evaluating traditional methods and integrating AI for enhanced stability of pillars in the Great Dyke, Zimbabwe

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
B1 is bord width 1, B2 is bord width 2, L is the pillar length, W is the pillar width, red color and letter A represent the pillars, and white color and number 1 represent excavated areas. Pstress is the average pillar stress; σv is the vertical component of the virgin stress, MPa; and e is the areal extraction ratio. e = B o B o + B P ${\rm{e}}=\frac{{

Research progress and current status of dynamic wave propagation characteristics in rock mass: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the velocity–dispersion–attenuation coupling mechanisms of wave propagation in rock masses, compares six representative models, and reveals how pressure, temperature, mineral composition, and anisotropy jointly control dynamic responses in complex geological media.

Characterization of pentlandite-bearing quartz veins of Kambalda, Western Australia

open access: yes, 2019
Includes bibliographical references.2019 Summer. The Kambalda Dome of the Yilgarn Craton is located in Western Australia and has been historically mined for Ni after the discovery of magmatic sulfide orebodies in 1966.

Replacement of Ores Recorded by Textures and Chemical Compositions of Sphalerite: An Example From the Furutobe Kuroko Deposit, Akita, Japan

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Coupled dissolution‐reprecipitation of early formed Cd‐, Fe‐, Ag‐ and Sb‐poor sphalerite through interaction with high‐temperature and high‐sulphur fugacity Cu‐rich fluids, responsible for the formation of the yellow ores, resulted in the formation of Cd‐, Fe‐, Ag‐ and Sb‐rich, heavily chalcopyrite‐diseased sphalerite and enrichment of critical metals ...

Notable Impact of Paleotectonic Stress on Gold Mineralisation in the West Qinling Orogen

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
By applying fuzzy clustering and multiple inverse methods, we systematically processed the data of vein and fault slip in this ore deposit to reveal the transition of orogenic geological environment and paleotectonic stress field. Our research results show two different stress states: the northwest–southeast extensional stress field and the northeast ...

Genetic models of mineralization associated with quartz veins (on the example of crystal and gold mineralization)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2019
Background. Any exploration work involves difficulties associated with a rapid assessment of the development prospects of the discovered ore occurrences, flanks and deep horizons of the exploited fields, new vein bodies within the known ore fields and ...

Geochemistry and Geochronology of Magmatic Rocks in Southwestern and Northeastern Cambodia: Implications for the Tectonic Evolution and Metallogenesis of the Loei Fold Belt

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The composition of intrusive rocks suggests that the magma was likely generated in a subduction‐related setting. The arc crustal thickness in the Phnom Sro Ngam and Halo Prospects was probably < 40 km during emplacement. Zircon U–Pb age range indicates a correlation with Loei Fold Belt magmatic activity.

Research on Fluid Inclusions in Vein Quartz as Higher Purity Quartz Sand

open access: yesKuangchan zonghe liyong, 2022
As an important new non-metallic electronic material,higher-purity quartz sand has high requirements on impurity elements in inclusions of raw materials.Besides that ,the presence of inclusions has an important impact on its purity and performance.Based on this, the fluid inclusions in the vein quartz abroad have been studied in detail by using optical ...

A Reassessment of Petrochemistry of ~1.2 Ga Tonalitic Rocks of the Northern Tugela Terrane, Natal Metamorphic Belt, South Africa: Further Constraints on the Evolution of This Belt

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Our petrochemical studies on ~1.2 Ga granitoids of the Natal Metamorphic Belt, South Africa, do not suggest any property similar to Phanerozoic‐style subduction‐related granitoids. Plot of Kotongweni Tonalite in Y versus Sr diagram (after Moyen 2011), note that most samples have Sr/Y < 50.
