The induced 2-tuple linguistic generalized OWA operator and its application in linguistic decision making [PDF]

open access: yes
We present the induced 2-tuple linguistic generalized ordered weighted averaging (2-TILGOWA) operator. This new aggregation operator extends previous approaches by using generalized means, order-inducing variables in the reordering of the arguments and ...

The Logical Firmament

open access: yesPhilosophical Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This essay asks a new question: When someone with a firm understanding of basic operations nevertheless remains ignorant of a complex logical or mathematical truth, precisely what kind of information are they missing? I introduce “catenary truths,” a significant component of this non‐omniscient shortfall.

Fluorescent proteins: A journey from the cell to extreme environments in material science

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Applications of proteins and microorganisms as tools or effectors in material science. Abstract This review presents the progression from the use of fluorescent proteins (FPs) and chromoproteins as bioimaging labels and sensors to the strategic engineering of their properties for robust functionality in synthetic and non‐biological environments ...

A variant of Jensen–Steffensen's inequality and quasi-arithmetic means

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2005
A variant of Jensen-Steffensen's inequality is proved. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the equality in Jensen-Steffensen's inequality are established. Several inequalities involving more than two monotonic functions and generalized quasi-arithmetic means with not only positive weights are proved.

Math Anxiety and Its Relations to Arithmetic Fluency and Number Processing: Evidence From Finnish, Finnish‐Swedish, and Swedish Fourth‐Grade Students

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The negative relationship between math anxiety and mathematics performance is well established. However, factors such as how math anxiety is operationalized, the specific mathematical domain, gender, and cultural context may influence this relationship.

Continuously differentiable means

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2006
We consider continuously differentiable means, say -means. As for quasi-arithmetic means , we need an assumption that has no stationary points so that might be continuously differentiable. Introducing quasi-weights for -means would give a satisfactory

The Impacts of Problem‐Posing Intervention on the Mathematical Proficiency of Undergraduate Developmental Mathematics Students' Developmental Mathematics

open access: yesSchool Science and Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the impact of problem‐posing on the mathematical proficiency and engagement of 56 Developmental Mathematics (DM) students enrolled in a noncredit college mathematics course. Using a quasi‐experimental design, one of two existing classes was selected as the experimental group and received a 5‐week intervention focused on

Order among quasi-arithmetic operator means

open access: yes, 2011
We give an refined inequalities concerning the continued version of a generalized quasi-arithmetic operator means. Also, we give extension of inequalities concerning the discrete version of the same means. Finally, we give an extension of the refined inequalities concerning the above means. As applications, we obtain inequalities concerning power means.
