Abstract Newton's Method is widely used to find the solution of complex non‐linear simulation problems. To guarantee a descent direction, it is common practice to clamp the negative eigenvalues of each element Hessian prior to assembly—a strategy known as Projected Newton (PN)—but this perturbation often hinders convergence.

Heterogeneity in Manufacturing Growth Risk
Abstract We analyze differences in output growth risk with respect to financial conditions across U.S. manufacturing industries. Using a multilevel quantile regression approach, we find that industries exhibit heterogeneous increases of downside risk in times of tight financial conditions, while upside potential remains stable.
