Monte Carlo and Quasi Monte Carlo Approach to Ulam's Method for Position Dependent Random Maps

open access: yesCommunications in Advanced Mathematical Sciences, 2020
We consider position random maps $T=\{\tau_1(x),\tau_2(x),\ldots, \tau_K(x); p_1(x),p_2(x),\ldots,p_K(x)\}$ on $I=[0, 1],$ where $\tau_k, k=1, 2, \dots, K$ is non-singular map on $[0,1]$ into $[0, 1]$ and $\{p_1(x),p_2(x),\ldots,p_K(x)\}$ is a set of

Toward a principled sampling theory for quasi-orders

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
Quasi-orders, that is, reflexive and transitive binary relations, have numerous applications. In educational theories, the dependencies of mastery among the problems of a test can be modeled by quasi-orders.

Complete spatial coherence characterization of quasi-random laser emission from dye doped transparent wood.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
We report on the experimental determination of the complete two coordinate spatial coherence function of light emitted by a quasi-random laser, implemented on recently introduced dye-doped transparent wood.

Quasi-Random Boolean Functions

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics
We examine a hierarchy of equivalence classes of quasi-random properties of Boolean Functions. In particular, we prove an equivalence between a number of properties including balanced influences, spectral discrepancy, local strong regularity, homomorphism enumerations of colored or weighted graphs and hypergraphs associated with Boolean functions as ...

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.

Study of Quasi-Static Magnetization with the Random-Field Ising Model

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2020
The topic of this paper is modeling based on Hamiltonian spin interactions. Preliminary studies on the identification of quasi-static magnetizing field in a magnetic system were presented.

Electroencephalographic Normalization as a Biomarker of Clinical Recovery in Down Syndrome Regression Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Down syndrome regression disorder is a syndrome characterized by subacute loss of cognitive, behavioral, and functional abilities in individuals with Down syndrome. Electroencephalography abnormalities are frequently observed during evaluation, but it remains unclear whether these findings represent a dynamic marker of disease ...

Quasi-Random Words and Limits of Word Sequences [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2020
Words are sequences of letters over a finite alphabet. We study two intimately related topics for this object: quasi-randomness and limit theory. With respect to the first topic we investigate the notion of uniform distribution of letters over intervals, and in the spirit of the famous Chung--Graham--Wilson theorem for graphs we provide a list of word ...

Mycophenolate Mofetil Treatment Reduces the Risk of Treatment Escalation Due to Vascular Complications in Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis: Emulation of a Target Trial From the Italian Rheumatology Society SPRING Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon because of the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.
