Quasi-Static Propagation of Subinterfacial Cracks

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2000
The problem of quasi-static crack propagation in a three-point bend specimen containing an initial crack that is parallel to and offset from a bimaterial interface is considered. An approximate dislocation-based fracture model is used to identify conditions under which such cracks are attracted to or repelled by the interface.

Quasi-static Electromagnetic Field

2004
In the previous chapter we have analyzed phenomena in a constant magnetic field. Now we consider the processes in conductors subject to a time dependent external magnetic field. The field and current variations are assumed to be sufficiently slow such that the field distribution at any moment of time can be described as static and created by the ...

Quasi-Static Contacts

1998
We recall briefly the Hertz theory of elastic contact. Diverse extensions including adhesion, or solid friction at the contact zone are briefly discussed. Other behavior laws than elasticity (plasticity, damage, fracture, visco-elasticity) are examined to analyse the limitation of the hertzian description.

Quasi-static crack propagation

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1967
When cracks of any size spread in brittle materials and when large cracks spread in large structures of ductile materials, irreversible deformation is confined to a small volume of material contiguous with the crack surfaces. A general theory of quasi-static crack propagation under such conditions is formulated.

Quasi‐static earthquake mechanics

Reviews of Geophysics, 1979
Viewed as a boundary value problem of continuum mechanics, the subject of earthquake mechanics reduces to the study of (1) constitutive properties (stress‐deformation laws) and geometry of fault zones and surroundings, and (2) remotely applied boundary conditions.

The Quasi-static Approximation

1990
As has already been pointed out several times, when atmospheric phenomena are analyzed on what is called a synoptic scale (for which L is of the order of 106 m), the anisotropic parameter of the atmosphere e = H/L can be estimated to be at least 10−2. The reason for this is that these phenomena take place essentially throughout the entire troposphere ...
