Neutron quasielastic scattering by (CH3NH3)5Bi2Cl11
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1997Abstract (CH3NH3)+-cation rotation in crystalline (CH3NH3)5Bi2Cl11 was studied by the QNS. The following (no doubt simplified) models were considered: 1. 1. All cations are equivalent and rotate as a whole around C-N axes 2. 2. Majority of cations behave as in point (1) and the remaining ones do not move (for the neutron observation window).

Inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering
Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 1997Inelastic neutron scattering is a technique for measuring the dynamics of condensed matter on a microscopic scale. Several dynamical regimes can be probed, including atomic momentum distributions, vibrations, and relaxation phenomena. Recent work has been carried out to investigate the dynamics of disordered materials.

Quasielastic neutron scattering by hydrogen in niobium
Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1970Abstract The diffusion of hydrogen in niobium has been studied by quasielastic neutron scattering measuring the width of the quasi-elastic line as a function of the scattering vector. The measurements have been performed at concentrations of 3·2 at.% at 200° and 300°C, and at 33 at.% hydrogen between 100° to 300°C for many temperatures, especially ...

Quasielastic neutron scattering in condensed oxygen
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1992The quasielastic spectra of liquid and plastic-crystalline oxygen are shown to be dominated by the magnetic response. An approximate separation of the nuclear and magnetic responses from the total, unpolarized neutron double differential cross-sections is achieved by means of a subtraction of the structural contributions calculated from a Molecular ...

Internal motions of actin characterized by quasielastic neutron scattering
European Biophysics Journal, 2011Quasielastic neutron scattering (QENS) experiments were carried out on powders of F-actin and G-actin hydrated with D(2)O to characterize the internal dynamics on the picosecond time scale and the Ångstrom length scale. To investigate the effects of hydration, the measurements were done on samples at hydration ratio (h) of 0.4 (mg D(2)O/mg protein ...

Dynamics of water in a molecular sieve by quasielastic neutron scattering
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2005We have investigated the dynamics of water confined in a molecular sieve, with a cylindrical pore diameter of 10Å, by means of quasielastic neutron scattering (QENS). Both the incoherent and coherent intermediate scattering functions I(Q,t) were determined by time-of-flight QENS and the neutron spin-echo technique, respectively. The results show that I(

Quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering on hydrated calcium silicate pastes
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004Using the inverse geometry spectrometer QENS at the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source of the Argonne National Laboratory, we collected quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering spectra of hydrated tricalcium and dicalcium silicate, the main components of ordinary Portland cement.

Bayesian analysis of quasielastic neutron scattering data
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1992We consider the analysis of quasielastic neutron scattering data from a Bayesian point-of-view. This enables us to use probability theory to assess how many quasielastic components there is most evidence for in the data, as well as providing an optimal estimate of their parameters.

Quasielastic neutron scattering facility at Dhruva reactor
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2001Quasi-elastic neutron scattering is a powerful experimental tool for studying the various dynamical motions in solids and liquids. In this paper, we have described the salient features of the quasi-elastic neutron spectrometer in operation at Dhruva reactor at Trombay, India.

Quasielastic neutron scattering by superionic strontium chloride
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1978The scattering, from powder and single crystal samples, appears only above the superionic transition temperature, 1000K. The integrated intensity is found to be strongly dependent on the direction and magnitude of the scattering vector, Q, (which suggests the scattering is coherent) but does not exhibit the periodicity of the reciprocal lattice.
