Cyclotron Resonance and Quasiparticles [PDF]
This introductory paper contains personal perspectives about the importance of cyclotron resonance in forming our modern view of solids. The papers following this one will discuss the discovery, refinements, and some of the latest developments. Although I will touch on some of these subjects, I leave the details to the other authors and in the main ...

Role of Spin in Quasiparticle Interference [PDF]
Quasiparticle interference patterns measured by scanning tunneling microscopy can be used to study the local electronic structure of metal surfaces and high-temperature superconductors. Here, we show that even in nonmagnetic systems the spin of the quasiparticles can have a profound effect on the interference patterns.

Prolate-to-oblate transition and backbending along the yrast line induced by quasiparticle alignment
The yrast lines in Kr isotopes with N=42, 44, and 46 are investigated in a beyond mean field framework with both prolate-oblate coexistence and quasiparticle alignment taken into account.

Strong coupling Bose polarons in a two-dimensional gas
We study the properties of Bose polarons in two dimensions using quantum Monte Carlo techniques. Results for the binding energy, the effective mass, and the quasiparticle residue are reported for a typical strength of interactions in the gas and for a ...

Unveiling quasiparticle dynamics of topological insulators through Bayesian modelling
Extracting quasiparticle dispersion from photoemission data is challenging and often results in confusion when investigating low-energy excitations.

A new electromagnetic cavity structure, a lattice of 3D cavities consisting of an array of posts and gaps is presented. The individual cavity elements are based on the cylindrical re-entrant (or Klystron) cavity.

We survey the use of spectroscopic imaging scanning tunneling microscopy (SI-STM) to probe the electronic structure of underdoped cuprates. Two distinct classes of electronic states are observed in both the d-wave superconducting (dSC) and the pseudogap (

Resonant wavepackets and shock waves in an atomtronic SQUID
The fundamental dynamics of ultracold atomtronic devices are reflected in their phonon modes of excitation. We probe such a spectrum by applying a harmonically driven potential barrier to a ^23 Na Bose–Einstein condensate in a ring-shaped trap.

Josephson tunnel junction controlled by quasiparticle injection [PDF]
A Josephson tunnel junction transistor based on quasiparticle injection is proposed. Its operationrelies on the manipulation of the electron distribution in one of the junction electrodes.
