Quasistable state of an amplifying medium with an infinite energy store

An analysis was made of the dynamics of population inversion and photon field density in an amplifying medium enclosed in a totally reflecting cavity and characterized by fast inversion switching. A dimensionless parameter D representing the stability of this medium is introduced.
