Ni and Mo enrichment mechanisms in framboidal pyrite during methane-release events (Baiyun Sag, South China Sea)

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Framboidal pyrite, a common form of authigenic pyrite in marine sediments, forms through the co-precipitation of equant, equidimensional microcrystals that can effectively sequester trace elements.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Planktonic Foraminifera Biostratigraphy Of Taeno Limestone, Ambon, Maluku Province, Indonesia

open access: yesJGEET: Journal of Geoscience, Engineering, Environment and Technology
The limestone became exposed to the surface because of an uplift event during the Quaternary period. This study aims to determine the age of limestone outcrops in the Taeno Traverse using planktonic foraminifera.

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Quaternary and Pre-Quaternary Crustal Movements

open access: yesThe Quaternary Research (Daiyonki-Kenkyu), 1968
The problem discussed in this paper is whether the crustal movements in the Japanese Islands changed in nature or rate during the transition from the Tertiary to the Quaternary periods. The Late Tertiary sedimentary basins gradually migrated under the control of the orogenic movements which had begun in the Early Miocene.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Sedimentology of Modern Bahamian Carbonate Slopes: Summary and Update

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Slopes adjacent to the Bahamian carbonate platform revealed a large variety of depositional processes. In this study, we present a synthesis summarizing 109,000 km2 of bathymetric and reflectivity data with ∼7,900 km of seismic lines and 311 m of ...
