The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

DOA Estimation of Noncircular Signals Using Quaternions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2017
The two-dimensional (2D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation problem for noncircular signals using quaternions is considered in this paper. In the framework of quaternions, we reconstruct the conjugate augmented output vector which reduces the ...

On split quaternion equivalents for Quaternaccis, shortly Split Quaternaccis

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2021
In this paper, we introduce generalizations of Quaternacci sequences (Quaternaccis), called Split Quaternacci sequences, which arose on a base of split quaternion algebras.

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Unit Quaternions and the Bloch Sphere

open access: yes, 2015
The spinor representation of spin-1/2 states can equally well be mapped to a single unit quaternion, yielding a new perspective despite the equivalent mathematics.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Some Combinatorial Properties of the k-Fibonacci and the k-Lucas Quaternions

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2015
In this paper, we define the k-Fibonacci and the k-Lucas quaternions. We investigate the generating functions and Binet formulas for these quaternions. In addition, we derive some sums formulas and identities such as Cassini’s identity.

A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).
