Post‐fire plant functional strategies of Mediterranean woody species can be less fixed than often thought when intraspecific variability of fire‐related traits is considered. Abstract Fire can profoundly affect ecosystem dynamics, species distribution and plant traits, especially in open biomes.

Isoprene emission in oaks originated from convergent adaptive evolution of terpene synthases, involving a substrate shift from monoterpene to isoprene production within a Fagaceae‐specific TPS lineage. Abstract Plants emit a wide range of volatile organic compounds, among which isoprene is the most abundant and atmospherically influential. Although oak

Prilog anatomiji lista česvine (Quercus ilex L.)
U ovom radu istražili smo anatomiju listova česvine s pomoću svjetlosnog i pretražnog elektronskog mikroskopa. Zimzeleni listovi česvine imaju kseromorfna svojstva u odnosu na vrste kojima otpadaju listovi svake godine, kao što su Quercus robur i dr.

Conservation of holm oak (Quercus ilex) by in vitro culture
In vitro culture techniques are used to propagate tree species, as well as to conserve the species in the short and long term. In the present study, in vitro propagation and conservation of holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) were successfully achieved using juvenile material. Mature acorns were germinated under controlled conditions of moisture and temperature,

Quercus ilex L.: a rich source of polyacylated flavonoid glucosides
From the methanolic extract of Quercus ilex leaves a series of acylated flavonol glucosides were identified, among them five new naturally occurring compounds. The constituents, which were all p-coumaroyl glucosides of kaempferol, were characterised either as pure compounds or as inseparable, complicated mixtures of cis and trans isomers.
