Searching biomedical ontologies based on content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
As more ontologies become publicly available, finding the 'right' ontologies becomes much harder. In this paper, we introduce a new ontology search technique which is based on corpus analysis.

Evolutionary dynamics of the chloroplast genome in Daphne (Thymelaeaceae): comparative analysis with related genera and insights into phylogenetics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

Asymmetric Feature Maps with Application to Sketch Based Retrieval

open access: yes, 2017
We propose a novel concept of asymmetric feature maps (AFM), which allows to evaluate multiple kernels between a query and database entries without increasing the memory requirements.

Naked cuticle is essential for Drosophila wing development beyond Wingless signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Naked cuticle (Nkd), a Wnt signaling inhibitor, assumes extensive roles in Drosophila wing development. Overexpressing Nkd causes smaller, crumpled wings, while also perturbing multiple signaling pathways and developmental genes. A specific region (R1S) is critical for Nkd's function as a signaling integrator, offering new insights for studying its ...

An Intelligent Feature Concatenation Process-Based Effective Query Expansion for Patent Retrieval Approach Using Optimal Bi-clustering and Enhanced Social Engineering Optimizer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems
The major objective of patent retrieval is to identify relevant documents from a large database. Patent retrieval requests often take the form of patent claims, as in prior art searches, and these searches typically require a long time to complete ...

Thesaurus-assisted search term selection and query expansion: a review of user-centred studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper provides a review of the literature related to the application of domain-specific thesauri in the search and retrieval process. Focusing on studies which adopt a user-centred approach, the review presents a survey of the methodologies and ...

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Event-based hyperspace analogue to language for query expansion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bag-of-words approaches to information retrieval (IR) are effective but assume independence between words. The Hyperspace Analogue to Language (HAL) is a cognitively motivated and validated semantic space model that captures statistical dependencies ...
